INTERNET RADIO HANDLER
FIREWALL INTERACTION WITH INTERNET RADIO HANDLER
A security alert window may appear the first time the Internet Radio Handler is used. This occurs if
the computer's operating system or other security software employs a program blocker in its firewall.
For Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack (SP) 1, there should be no issues using the Internet Radio
Forwarding Agent. For Windows XP Service Pack (SP) 2, the following procedure can be used. For
other software firewalls, refer to the program's Help files for specific information.
Using the Media Forwarding Agent for the first time with SP2 will result in a Windows Security Alert
window asking if you want Windows Firewall to keep blocking this program. Select Unblock to add the
program to the firewall Exception list. This allows the Forwarding Agent to communicate with the
SMS3. A restart of the computer may be needed for these changes to take effect.

If you do not unblock the Forwarding Agent then it cannot talk to the SMS3 and you will get an error
message telling you the Media Server could not be found, followed by another error message saying
there was an error sending the file to the Media Server.
