IR-controlled System The SMS3 can be controlled by infrared commands received through the IR connection on the rear panel, in addition to the IR receiver on the front panel. There is one IR connection on the SMS3. You will need an IR link cable (Russound PN 09-0508 or equivalent) for this connection.

Internet Explorer 6 and Mozilla Firefox web browsers. Power The SMS3 Media Server is not designed to be shut on and off after each use. It should remain powered all the time. When used with the CAV6.6 or CAM6.6 controller, the SMS3 will be power managed by default to disconnect all three streams after all zones have been off for 5 minutes.

Check LEDs on Ethernet connector (back of SMS3). A solid green light indicates a physical network connection; a flashing yellow LED indicates network activity. 3. With one video stream out, if there is more than one video interface (TV, display) using the same signal, all show the same view and all will update at the same time. When a menu command is received by the SMS3, the video signal will display the stream that was the target of the command.

The SMS3-RC remote control is used for direct control of the SMS3 and for IR repeating systems only. 5 17 CONTROLLING THE SMS3 UNO-TS2 Touchscreen The UNO-TS2 offers an expanded view of source information and selections when used with the Russound SMS3 Media Server in an RNET system. A single view shows the active theme, artist name, song title and album name. Linked screens show more detailed song information and lead to search fields to choose music by genre, artist, album and more.

CD, clean it and try again. The amber LED on the front panel blinks while the CD is cataloged. It takes about 12 minutes to catalog a CD. When the cataloging process is finished, the amber LED will go dark, the CD will stop spinning and the drawer will open. 1 2 3 4 5 6 SMS3 SMART MEDIA...

"Forward to Media Server" a naming dialog box appears. Enter a name for the stream and click "OK. " The named stream will now appear in the Internet Radio list on the SMS3. It may take a few minutes before these are available. To test, select the internet radio station and you should hear it play on the selected stream.

Some of these are geared toward the user, some are available only to the installer. SETUP SCHEDULES Schedules are used to automatically select Themes to play at specific times of specific days. More information on Schedules and how to set them is found in the SMS3 User Manual. System Time (under Setup Schedules) It is important to set the correct system time on the media server, as many behind-the scenes functions such as internet stream imports are governed by this setting.

Select the window next to the Stream Name # and enter the new name using the name entry field. 33 START UP OPTIONS & STATUS CONFIGURATION Note: If used with an RNET-enabled system, changes to the SMS3 stream names appear within the graphical user interface only and DO NOT show up on the UNO keypads.

If a static IP address is desired, enter the IP address in the window next to Static IP and select Apply IP. The new IP address will show at the top of the window. Note: A DHCP server with NAT/firewall is still required for the SMS3 even if a static IP address is to be used. Note: Do not enter a Static IP address that matches its dynamic IP address or that falls within the DHCP server's address allocation pool.

A music encoding service takes a collection of music CDs and loads them onto an external hard drive in formats supported by the SMS3. The resulting music files and metadata are now ready to be loaded on the SMS3. To import files from an external hard drive that has been loaded by a music encoding service (ReadyToPlay), select Import HDD and connect the drive to the SMS3.

Damage to or destruction of components due to application of excessive power voids the warranty on those parts. In these cases, repairs will be made on the basis of the retail value of the parts and labor. To return for repairs, the unit must be shipped to Russound at the owner's expense, along with a note explaining the nature of service required.
