  • Page 60: Emission Control Systems

EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEMS EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEMS SOURCE OF EMISSIONS Exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide, nitrous oxide (NOx), and hydrocarbons. It is very important to control the emissions of NOx and hydrocarbons as they are a major contributor to air pollution. Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas. The emission of fuel vapors is a source of pollution as well.
  • Page 61 EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEMS REPLACEMENT PARTS The emission control system on the engine was designed, built, and certified to conform to applicable emission regulations. We recommend the use of Polaris Genuine parts whenever maintenance is performed. These original-design replacement parts are manufactured to the same standards as the original parts. The use of replacement parts that are not of the original design and quality may impair the effectiveness of the emission control system.
