Supervisor password

A supervisor password (SVP) protects the system information stored in the BIOS
Setup Utility. The user enters the SVP to get access to the BIOS Setup Utility and
change the system configuration. It also can be used as a power-on password
(POP), if Password on boot is set to Enabled.
For how to remove the SVP, see "How to remove the supervisor password" on
page 36.

User password

If a user password has been set and Password on boot is set to Enabled, a
password prompt appears on the screen whenever the computer is turned on. The
user password is also used to enter the BIOS Setup Utility, but only a part of the
options can be set. The user password can be set only when the SVP has been set.
For how to remove the user password, see "How to remove the user password" on
page 36.

Power-on password

A power-on password (POP) protects the system from being powered on by an
unauthorized person. The password must be entered before an operating system
can be booted. The SVP and the user password can be used as the POP, if
Password on boot is set to Enabled.
