Operator is responsible for following instructions and warnings. Be familiar with controls and proper use.
Prohibited Accessories

Fuel Safety
Fuel Handling Outdoors
Mix and pour fuel outdoors. Keep away from sparks or flames. Use approved container. Do not smoke.
Fuel Spills and Storage
Avoid spilling fuel. Wipe up spills. Move 10 feet from fueling site. Stop engine to cool before removing fuel cap. Store gasoline properly.
Cutting Safety
Pre-Use Inspection
Inspect area before each use. Remove objects that can be thrown by line or entangle it.
Bystander Safety
Keep others 50 feet away. Encourage bystanders to wear safety glasses. Stop engine if approached.
Usage Limitations
Use only for trimming, scalping, mowing, and sweeping. Do not use for edging or hedge trimming.

Keep firm footing and balance. Do not over-reach. Keep body parts away from muffler and spinning line.
Transporting and Storage
Storage Preparation
Allow engine to cool. Secure unit before storing or transporting. Empty fuel tank and run engine to stop.

Assembly
General Assembly Warning
If unit is received assembled, repeat steps to ensure proper assembly and secure fasteners. Examine parts for damage.
Shaft Assembly
Align grooves on upper and lower shafts. Push shafts together until fully seated. Secure with locking sleeve assembly.
Handle Adjustment
Loosen wing nut on handle. Rotate handle to upright position and retighten wing nut. Ensure it remains above safety label.
Attaching Shield
Remove wing nut from shield. Insert bracket into slot. Pivot shield until bolt passes through hole. Secure wing nut.
Operation
Know Your Trimmer
Compare illustrations with unit to familiarize location of controls and adjustments. Save manual for reference.
Stop Switch
Push and hold the STOP switch in the STOP position until the engine stops.
Primer Bulb
Primer bulb removes air from carburetor and fuel lines, filling them with fuel for easier starting.
Before Starting Engine
Read fuel information in safety rules before fueling. If unsure, do not attempt to fuel unit.
Fueling Engine
Remove fuel cap slowly when refueling. Use correct oil/gas mixture. Follow safety rules relating to fuel.
Choke Operation
Use choke for cold starting. Move lever to full choke, then half choke, then run position.
Fuel Requirements
Gasoline Specifications
Use minimum 87 octane clean gasoline. Do not use straight gasoline or alcohol-blended fuels.
Alternative Fuels Warning
Alternative fuels (E-15, E-20, E-85) are not approved and cause engine problems.
How to Start Your Unit
Starting a Cold Engine
Prime bulb 6 times, move choke to full, squeeze throttle, pull rope. Adjust choke as needed.
Starting a Warm Engine
Move choke to half position, squeeze throttle, pull rope. Move choke to run position after starting.
Operating Instructions
Operating Position
Always wear PPE. Do not lean over trimmer head. Release throttle to idle when not cutting.
Trimmer Line Advance
Tap trimmer head lightly on ground to advance line. Use maximum allowed length. Keep shield in place.
Cutting Methods
Use minimum speed and do not crowd line. Tip of the line does the cutting.
Trimming and Mowing
Trim 3 inches above ground. For delicate trees, shorten line and use less throttle. Use full throttle for mowing.
Maintenance
General Maintenance Warning
Disconnect spark plug before maintenance, except for carburetor adjustments.
Check Fasteners and Parts
Inspect unit for loose or damaged parts. Check spark plug boot, air filter, housing screws, etc.
Check for Damaged or Worn Parts
Contact dealer for replacement of worn parts. Check STOP switch, fuel tank, and debris shield.
Inspect and Clean Unit and Labels
Clean unit and labels with damp cloth and mild detergent. Wipe dry with clean cloth.
Clean Air Filter
Clean air filter regularly to maintain engine performance. Wash in soap and water, allow to dry.
Service and Adjustments
Line Replacement
Remove spool, clean, and replace with new line. Wind line evenly onto spool and secure.
Replacing the Trimmer Head
Remove trimmer head by turning counter-clockwise. Thread replacement head onto shaft clockwise.
Carburetor Idle Speed Adjustment
Adjust idle speed if engine stalls or does not idle properly. Keep others away during adjustment.
Storage
General Storage
Allow engine to cool, secure unit, store in ventilated area away from sparks and children.
Seasonal Storage
Prepare unit for storage at end of season. Clean unit, store in dry area. Lightly oil metal surfaces.
