Technical data

See warranty card of your country.
Limit the operating time. All stages of the operating cycle must be considered (for example, times in which the electric tools are switched off and times in which the tool is switched on but operates without load).

Before starting the equipment

Inserting batteries (Fig. 1)

  • Turn off the equipment using the ON/OFF button (4)
  • Open the battery compartment cover (5).
  • Connect the battery (a) to the plug, ensuring that you fit it the right way round.
  • Insert the battery in the battery compartment
  • Close the battery compartment cover (5) again, making sure that it locks securely

Operation

  • T he tool cannot provide a one hundred percent guarantee of safety. In order to eliminate possible dangers it is necessary to take precautions by checking other sources of information such as building plans, photos from the time of construction, etc., before starting any drilling, sawing or routing work in walls, ceilings or floors.
  • W henever any material is detected in the wall, a check must always be made as to whether the material concerned is a live cable.
  • W ork is only allowed to be performed in the area of electric cables if the power supply has been disconnected. If in doubt, contact an electrician or personnel with similar qualifications.
  • B eams and supports are generally spaced at regular intervals behind walls or ceilings. Electric cables and water pipes on the other hand, for example, are spaced irregularly. Check the spacing of objects before you start working on walls or ceilings.
  • I t is possible for measurement errors to occur depending on the characteristics of the surface involved.
  • T he identified object may actually be wider or narrower than shown on the display. This varies according to the depth.

ON/OFF switch
Press the ON/OFF button (4) to switch the equipment on and off.
The equipment switches off automatically after 60 seconds without an entry being made.

Functions
The selection buttons (3) provide you with four diff erent functions to select from:

STUD:
For metallic and non-metallic materials (wood, metal, etc.)

  • Detection depth for wood: max. 19 mm
  • Detection depth for metal: max. 19 mm

METAL:
For ferrous materials and copper piping

  • Detection depth for ferrous metals: max. 50 mm
  • Detection depth for copper: max. 24 mm

DEEP:
For copper piping, metal, wood

  • Detection depth for copper: max. 38 mm
  • Detection depth for metal: max. 38 mm
  • Detection depth for wood: max. 19 mm

AC:
For live cables

  • Detection depth: max. 50 mm

Calibration
The equipment needs to be calibrated for the characteristics of the search area before each measurement (wall, fl oor or ceiling). Calibration needs to be repeated every 60 seconds in order to reduce the occurrence of measuring errors.

  • Switch on the equipment and select the function you require.
  • Hold the equipment against the surface with the back against the surface
  • Select an area where there is probably less likelihood of finding the material you are trying to locate
  • Press the detection button (2) and keep it pressed
  • Do not move the equipment
  • Calibration has been completed when three short beeps have been sounded
  • You can now start your search

Searching (Fig. 2-4)
The search procedure is the same for all four functions.

The object which is found must be "scanned" twice by the equipment in every case. "Scanning" must be in opposite directions in every case. The equipment must not lift or tilt during the search.

  • S witch on the equipment and select the function you require.
  • Calibrate
  • Place the equipment in position against the wall and move it slowly and in a horizontal direction along the wall
  • If you get close to the search object, a minimum of two bars will be shown in the display (1) (see Fig. 2a)
  • The closer you get, the more bars will be displayed. (see Fig. 2b)
  • Mark the point where the bar chart in the display (1) is completely filled
  • Repeat this procedure for the other side (see Fig. 3a / 3b)

  • Make another mark at the point where the bar chart in the display (1) is completely filled
  • The search object is located between the two marks.

It can be helpful to repeat the object search with a search direction rotated 90° (see Fig. 4), in order to identify the extent of the object more accurately.
Metal struts or braces running parallel to the equipment can disturb the sensor in the equipment.
The continuous display of just a single bar does not mean that an object has been identifi ed. You can only be certain that an object has been identifi ed if the equipment displays all the bars.

If AC mode is on and a lightning symbol is displayed along with the bar chart, this means that the object which has been found is an ELECTRIC CABLE.
Supports and electric cables located close to each other can prevent the unambiguous identifi cation of individual objects and possibly provide a misleading search result.
Where cables are routed along a known position but the equipment cannot fi nd them in AC mode, use METAL mode. One explanation could be that the cables are shielded by a metal cover in such a case.

Cleaning, maintenance and ordering of spare parts

Cleaning

  • K eep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure.
  • W e recommend that you clean the device immediately each time you have finished using it.
  • C lean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could attack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensure that no water can seep into the device. The ingress of water into an electric tool increases the risk of an electric shock.

Maintenance
There are no parts inside the equipment which require additional maintenance.

Ordering spare parts and accessories
Please provide the following information when ordering spare parts:

  • Type of unit
  • Article number of the unit
  • ID number of the unit

Storage

Store the equipment and accessories in a dark and dry place at above freezing temperature. The ideal storage temperature is between 5 and 30°C. Store the electric tool in its original packaging.
Never place any electric power tools in your household refuse.
To comply with European Directive 2012/19/EC concerning old electric and electronic equipment and its implementation in national laws, old electric power tools have to be separated from other waste and disposed of in an environment-friendly fashion, e.g. by taking to a recycling depot.
Recycling alternative to the return request:
As an alternative to returning the equipment to the manufacturer, the owner of the electrical equipment must make sure that the equipment is properly disposed of if he no longer wants to keep the equipment. The old equipment can be returned to a suitable collection point that will dispose of the equipment in accordance with the national recycling and waste disposal regulations. This does not apply to any accessories or aids without electrical components supplied with the old equipment.
T he reprinting or reproduction by any other means, in whole or in part, of documentation and papers accompanying products is permitted only with the express consent of the iSC GmbH.
