Read these instructions and the Operating and Safety Instructions very carefully to ensure proper
assembly and operation of this lamp. See page 2 for labeled diagram of parts.
1. Place top link of the chain over the hook mounted into the ceiling to hang your lamp.
Note: Because of the weight of the lamp, we suggest that you set your hook into the wood
supporting your ceiling.
2. Place the lamp bowl (Regency brass or Genie III series) on a level surface and screw the burner
(100013606) into the bowl.
3. Remove the filler plug/cap from the bowl and fill with K-1 kerosene or Aladdin lamp oil. Replace
the filler plug/cap.
Caution: Do not fill above the lip of the oil fill opening.
Note: We do not recommend using any other lamp oil.
4. Remove the 3" brass shade mounting ring from the plastic bag and attach to frame (H715) using
the two (2) smaller screws and wing nuts. The holes for attaching this ring are located a few
inches from the top of the hanging frame.
5. Place the shade (N716) over top of the hanging frame. The inner edge of the shade should sit on
the outer prongs of the shade holder (brass ring with screws).
6. Turn the remaining three (3) screws outward until the shade is balanced and steady.
7. Remove the smoke bell from the bag and attach to the top frame by the top link of its chain.
8. Attach hanging frame with shade to the hook using the top link of the brass chain.
9. Moving back to the bowl, lock the mantle (R150) into the center of the gallery (N239AB), which is
located at the top of the burner, and then carefully insert the chimney (100004908)
Caution: Do not touch the mesh part of the mantle. Use the wire frame to handle the mantle or
you will damage it.
10. Pick the lamp up by the bowl and guide the chimney up through the center of the shade. When
the bowl is above the lamp ring, tilt it back to horizontal center and slide the bowl into the ring.
Note: Ensure that the top of the chimney is centered in the middle of the shade.
The heat from the lamp will make the chimney very hot. The smoke bell will deflect heat outward
into the room if it is centered over the chimney. If this is not done properly, there is a chance of
scorching or burning the ceiling. Ensure 24" clearance from the top of the chimney to the ceiling.
The smoke bell is a steel part that has been brass plated. When the lamp is first used, the heat from
the lamp will cause the plating to darken and then flake off. It is normal for this to happen. The
smoke bell will then have a dark metal appearance.
When the lamp is in use, the gallery, chimney, smoke bell and the metal frame around the chimney
and smoke bell will become very hot. DO NOT TOUCH these areas until the lamp is extinguished
and has been allowed to cool. Do not attempt to move the lamp until it has cooled.
