ALERT2 Gateway-Decoder Configuration Guide
The ELPRO 115E-2 gateway-decoder supports environmental or industrial protocols using ethernet, RS-232 or
RS-485 serial connectivity and provide gateway functionality with built in IO for sharing environmental data
with industrial applications.
Out of the box the 115E-2 supports environmental data from ALERT environmental monitoring/flood warning
systems and industrial protocol such as, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU (master/slave) and DNP3 outstation
protocols as a gateway or to access its local IO.
ALERT2 is a standardized protocol that is used in environmental and flood warning applications in many parts
of the world and ELPRO has field equipment which supports this protocol to monitor rainfall, river heights,
water quality, wind speed/direction, temperature, humidity and other environmental sensors.
Typical Application:
ALERT2 protocol capability has been included in the 115E-2 and can be field installed using a feature key.
Details on installation of feature keys is available in the 115E-2 user manual. Please contact your ELPRO
reseller for information or to purchase this feature key.
To use the ALERT2 gateway feature key you must have firmware version 2.28p2 or later. Confirm this by
connecting to the 115E-2 unit and opening the home page. If you have older firmware, please contact ELPRO
for latest firmware.
Once you have obtained the ALERT2 feature key, follow the instructions in the 115E-2 user documentation to
connect using the USB port to the configuration web page and install the feature key.
Once the feature key is enabled the configuration web page should appear as below with "ERRTS Gateway"
configuration item in the menu shown in right hand pane.

The gateway unit supports ALERT protocol data from RS232, RS485 or Ethernet with ALERT2 binary or legacy ALERT binary. Before you start the configuration, you need to determine the source of the ALERT data.

ALERT2 or ALERT incoming data can be used on both these ports.

See below for an example of a configuration.

This is very simple process of configuring the station ID into the Source adress field, Sensor ID, Register number to send.
