Indication of intervention
- Black operating toggle in low position (OFF) and blue signal not appears: operation due to overcurrent (overload or short
- Black operating toggle in low position (OFF) and blue signal appears: operation of device due to dispersion to earth.
Installation instructions
- Install the residual current breaker on a panel or case having an IP... protection level which is adeguate to the environment or its use, according to IEC 60364 regulation requirement.
- Connect the equipment exactly as indicated.
- Switch on all loads of the circuit to be protected. If the residual current breaker is tripping, then it should be determined, by inserting one load after another, which one of them trigger the tripping: this load should then be removed from the system and checked.
- Push the test button. If the residual current breaker is properly installed and powered, it should release.
- If the electric system is very wide, then even the natural current leakage to earth may be high. In this event there is a possibility of unwanted tripping: to avoid this, the system should be subdivided into at least two independent circuits, each of which should be protected by a residual current circuit breaker.
- Electrical disturbances of external origin (storms) or high loads may cause high overvoltages that may in turn cause, first of all, damage to electronic components of the equipment, and the unwanted tripping of the residual current circuit breaker. Therefore, it is first necessary to protect electricity users by means of an overvoltage limiting device (OVR) and then, if necessary, to use residual current breakers anti-disturbance APR type.
- The higher continuity of service is reached when each of the users depending on the same earthing system is protected individually by its own residual current breaker.
- Installation should be carried out professionally and in accordance with IEC 60364 specific regulations.
Instructions for user
(To be kept available for future users as well)
Installation of this residual current operated circuit breaker appreciably increases the safety level of the electric installation and of the people using it. If the residual current breaker has a high sensitivity (I ∆n ≤ 0.03 A), additional protection against direct contacts is also supplied. However, the installation of a residual current operated circuit breaker does not mean exemption from all the precautions which should be taken by all using electric power.
In particular:
- remember to press the "T" test button regularly and at least every six months. The residual current breaker should then snap. If this does not happen, a technician should be alerted immediately because system safety has lowered.
- before changing bulbs or fuses, be sure that the power is shut off for the whole installation by opening the general breaker.
- do not leave wires unshielded, but arrange for their substitution immediately.
- always call a qualified technician to carry out work on fixed or mobile electric installations.
Resetting the device after tripping
When the device is tripped for a residual current the black toggle will be in the OFF position and the blue signal appears. After eliminating the reason it was tripped, reset the RCBO by switching the black toggle back to the ON position. When the device is tripped by an overload the black toggle will be in the OFF position and the signal blue will not appear. After eliminating the reason it was tripped, reset the RCBO by switching the black toggle back to the ON position.
