- Page 2 Step 1. Side Rail Connection To Headboard and Footboard Line (2) side rails up between headboard and footboard. Align holes in bracket to predrilled holes in headboard and footboard. Add a a lock washer onto the bolt, followed by a flat washer. Using the hex wrench provided, insert bolt with washers through the bracket and into the preinstalled threaded inserts in the headboard and footboard.
