Universal User Manual General The joysteer® system offers a solution for people with disabilities (users) to drive a vehicle on their own via a suitable input device. joysteer® is a drive-by-wire system (fully electrical) for steer, brake and gas; intended to be driven with a line-up of different HMI’s (human machine interfaces). -

Universal User Manual Status Module The Status Module is the optical and acoustical interface to the user. For safety reasons, there are 2 LED’s and 2 buzzers to be considered, each for one leg of the redundant joysteer® system. Important: The visual and acoustic alarms must be checked at all times, during start-up, driving and shut-down. -

2. Ensure that the park brake is engaged bevor you start the system. 3. Turn ON the vehicle ignition. 4. If needed, switch on the joysteer® system with the separate power switch. Otherwise, the joysteer® system will start automatically by ignition on (it depends on how the installation is done). -

3. Only for HMI mode: Move the gas-brake-lever to centre position (set values for gas and brake equals to zero). 4. Switch off the ignition and the joysteer® power switch, if that is present (depends on how the installation is done). -

Service and repairs The joysteer® system is a safety-critical application. Therefore, the user is not allowed to open any modules or to modify the system. For technical support, the car adaptation company which has built the car has to be contacted.
