Troubleshooting Guide for In-Vehicle Starlink Mini Kits
Introduction
This guide provides step-by-step troubleshooting methods to diagnose and resolve issues
with your GS-Mini In-Vehicle Starlink System. Start with basic checks before moving on
to more advanced diagnostics.
1. Basic Checks
1.1 System Won't Power On
● Check Dash Switch: Ensure the On/Off Dash Switch is turned ON.
● Check Power Source:
○ Verify that the auxiliary battery voltage is above 12.0V.
○ If the battery is low in charge, start the vehicle to recharge it.
● Inspect Power Cables & Connectors:
○ Ensure all cables are securely connected.
○ Look for loose, damaged, or unplugged connectors at the following points:
■ 2-pin plug on the GS-Mini Starlink Mount.
■ 4-pin plug on the Switch Module
■ Battery terminals - check that all terminals are tight on the battery.
● Check Starlink Fuse:
○ Inspect the fuse labeled "STARLINK" located near your auxiliary battery (or
start battery if no auxiliary is present).
○ If blown, replace with the spare 7.5A fuse located in your Welcome Pack.
1.2 Can't Connect to Wi-Fi
● Ensure the Starlink system is powered on.
● Check Wi-Fi settings on your device:
○ Find the Starlink SSID (Wi-Fi network name).
○ Enter the correct password.
● Move closer to the vehicle to ensure you're within Wi-Fi range (60–80 meters LINE
OF SIGHT with no obstructions).
● Restart your device and pair with SSID then open the Starlink app to check status.
● Use the Starlink App to check if the system is online and follow the prompts.
1.3 Internet is Slow or Dropping Out
● Check for Obstructions:
○ Ensure the vehicle is in an open, unobstructed area.
○ Avoid trees, buildings, and other obstacles.
● Check the Starlink App for Alerts:
○ Open the app and check for error messages.
○ Follow any troubleshooting prompts.
● Restart the System:
○ Turn off the Dash Switch, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on.
● Move to a Different Location:
○ If in a congested or obstructed area, relocate to improve the signal.
