GETTING STARTED Thank you for purchasing the LifeSource Platinum RO with pH Balancer Undersink Water Filtration System. The Platinum RO enhances the taste and quality of your water. This environmentally friendly water treatment system saves you money by reducing water waste.
  • Page 6: Introduction

INTRODUCTION The LifeSource RO with pH Balancer is a 5-stage water cleansing system. Stage One is a sediment filter that removes particles 5-microns in size or larger including rust, sand and other debris in the water line. Stage Two and Three are granular activated carbon (GAC) filters that remove odors, chlorine and bad tastes.

INSTALLATION Installation of Non-UPC Drain Connection (Figure 4) 1. Place the drain outlet saddle on the drain pipe. 2. Allow proper space for the drilling operation. 3. Tighten saddle bolts evenly on both sides. 4. Using the opening in the drain outlet saddle as a guide, drill a 1/4" hole in the drain pipe.

INSTALLATION Installation of the Clean Water Faucet Position the faucet for optimal aesthetics, function, and convenience. Allow for an ample flat area for the faucet base to be drawn down tightly. Ensure that the space under the sink where the faucet will be mounted is clear of obstructions. If you have any of the following, you don't need to drill a hole in the sink.

  • Page 14: Tubing Connections

INSTALLATION Tubing Connections The LifeSource Platinum RO has standard tubing connections that use a Quick Connect O-ring seal design. To make the connections, follow the instructions in Figure 8 and use the provided tubing. If you need to cut the tubing, cut an even square for proper sealing.

INSTALLATION Feed Water Line 1. Connect orange 1/4" inlet tubing to ball valve, or saddle valve installed in Step 2.3 above. 2. To reduce water hammer effect on this fitting, make a large loop in tubing before the connection on sediment filter. 3.
  • Page 17: Air Gap Faucet Installation

INSTALLATION Air Gap Faucet Installation (Figure 8) Municipal codes sometimes require air gap faucets. These faucets allow wastewater from the membrane to flow by gravity to the drain saddle, preventing potential clogging issues. A drain saddle with 3/8" (instead of ¼") tubing is used, along with an extra section of 3/8"...

APPENDIX: THEORY OF OPERATION Figure A1 Clean Water Faucet Discarded pH Balancer Membrane Clean Water Out Drinking Water Storage Tank Drain Feed Water Pre Filters: The prefilters serve two purposes: to clean the water for consumption and prevent RO membrane fouling. The first stage filter removes sediment particles such as sand, rust, pipe scale, and dirt.
  • Page 27: The Reverse Osmosis Membrane

APPENDIX: THEORY OF OPERATION The Reverse Osmosis Membrane: The membrane is the system's core and protector. Similar to the human stomach lining, the membrane allows water molecules to pass through while retaining dissolved molecules. How RO Works Reverse osmosis (RO) pushes water molecules through the membrane, rejecting approximately 93% of total dissolved solids.
  • Page 28: Auto Control

APPENDIX: THEORY OF OPERATION Auto Control: As water is produced, pressure in the storage tank increases. The auto control valve stops water production when the storage tank is full, maintaining pressure at around 40 PSI (see Figure A-1). Average U.S. city pressure is 60 PSI. The purified water is stored in the tank, which has a 4.0-gallon volume and a bladder with air at 6 PSI.
