M-VAVE CUBE BABY Manual

Introduction

The Cube Baby is a portable, multifunctional guitar effector with three editable presets. Users can customize the effects chain and save their settings. It features a built-in battery, 9 preamp selections, Chorus, Phaser, Delay, Reverb, 8 IR cabinet slots, and a tuner. The device supports mobile phone recording, Bluetooth, and can function as a computer sound card, making it an excellent companion for your guitar.

Power Supply

The Cube Baby is powered by a built-in battery that lasts up to 6 hours on a full charge.
* Charging: Use a 5V adapter or power bank. Charging with a DC 5V/2A adapter takes about 2 hours for a full charge.

Overview - Part 1 - Rear Panel

  1. IN: 1/4" MONO audio input jack.
  2. Power Switch.
  3. USB Jack: For charging the battery and connecting to a computer for editing presets and importing IRs.
  4. Audio Output Jack: Supports mobile phone recording.
  5. Earphone Output.
  6. OUT: 1/4" MONO audio output jack.

  1. TYPE: Select from 9 preamp options.
  2. GAIN: Adjust the gain.
  3. TONE: Control brightness.
  4. MOD: For Chorus/Phaser effects.
  5. TIME: Adjust feedback speed for delay.
  6. FB: Control the number of delay repeats.
  7. MIX: Adjust wet/dry ratio for delay.
  8. REVERB: Adjust wet/dry ratio for reverb.
  9. IR CAB: Choose from 8 IR cabinet slots.
  10. VOLUME: Overall volume control.

Preamp

  • TYPE: Choose from 9 different preamp types.
  • GAIN: Adjust gain level.
  • TONE: Adjust brightness.

MOD

  • MOD Knob: Left half for Chorus, right for Phaser. Middle position turns off MOD.

DELAY

  • TIME: Adjust feedback speed.
  • FB: Adjust repeat number.
  • MIX: Control wet/dry ratio. Turning left turns off delay.

REVERB

  • REVERB: Adjust wet/dry ratio. Turning left turns off reverb.

IR CAB

  • IR CAB: Choose from 9 IR slots; the first slot turns off IR.

Tuner

In Tuner mode, the six knobs represent the guitar strings. Adjust the string to light up the corresponding knob indicator.
Indicators:

  • >: Pitch too low.
  • : Correct pitch.
  • <: Pitch too high.

Press and hold B+C footswitches for 2 seconds to enter Tuner mode.

Bluetooth

To activate Bluetooth, press and hold A+B footswitches for 2 seconds. A blue indicator means it's connected, allowing music playback from your phone. A flashing blue light indicates Bluetooth is on but not connected.

Mobile Phone Recording

Connect your phone to the Cube Baby using a recording cable for high-quality recordings.

Operation Modes

Cube Baby has three modes:

  • LIVE Mode: For real-time performance.
  • EDIT Mode: For editing presets.
  • PRESET Mode: The default mode for performance.

Switching Modes:

  • Tap B+C for LIVE mode.
  • Tap A+B for EDIT mode.

PRESET Mode
In PRESET mode, you can listen to and use three saved presets with the A/B/C footswitches. If all indicators are off, the device is in Bypass.

LIVE Mode
In LIVE mode, adjust effects in real-time. The final output volume is set to 80%. The A/B/C footswitches control corresponding effects. Hold A/B/C to save your settings.

EDIT Mode
In EDIT mode, the previous knob data is retained. Knob indicators show the effect status. After editing, return to PRESET mode to set the output volume.

Customizing Effects Chain

To customize an effects chain similar to Preset "A":

  1. Enter LIVE mode (B+C).
  2. Turn off all effects (except VOLUME).
  3. Set the desired VOLUME level.
  4. Activate effects using the footswitches and adjust the knobs.
  5. Save your settings by holding the A footswitch for 2 seconds.
  6. Enter PRESET mode to use your new preset.

IR Editor
Software Interface Overview - Part 1 - IR Editor

  1. IR Files Searching Button: Use this to locate IR files on your computer.
  2. IR Files Display Interface: Displays the selected IR files, allowing you to click and listen to them.
  3. Microphone Distance Simulator: Adjust the distance between the microphone and the speaker. Closer distances result in louder sound; farther distances lower the sound volume. Note: At 100% distance, no sound will be heard.
  4. IR Saving Location: Select the slot (1-8) where you want to save the IR files on the Cube Baby.
  5. Save Button: Click this to save your IR settings.
  6. Factory Reset Option: Click this button to reset the IR parameters to their factory settings.
  7. PRESETS Factory Reset: Click to reset the parameters of the three presets to their factory settings.

Software Interface Overview - Part 2

  1. Select Preset: Choose the preset you wish to edit. If the software and Cube Baby are synced to the same preset, you can hear real-time edits.
  2. Adjust Effects Chain Level: Control the overall level of the current effects chain.
  3. Adjust IR CAB: Modify the settings for the IR cabinet.
  4. Adjust Reverb: Change the reverb settings.
  5. Adjust Delay Wet/Dry Ratio: Control the ratio of wet to dry signals for delay effects.
  6. Adjust Delay Echo Repeats: Set the number of echoes for the delay effect.
  7. Adjust Delay Feedback Speed: Control the feedback speed of the delay repeats.
  8. MOD Effector Editor: – 0-6: Edit Chorus settings. – 7-8: Turn off MOD effects. – 9-15: Edit Phaser settings.
  9. Adjust Brightness: Control the brightness of the effect.
  10. Adjust Gain: Modify the gain level.
  11. Select Preamp Type: Choose from the available preamp options.
  12. Save Button: Click this to save the edited preset.

Maintenance
