The AVC-2 is a single slot, double height (6U) VMEbus module. It includes two separate PMC slots. As VME to PCI Bridge the Universe II Tundra chip is used. The AVC-2 fulfils the requirements of the VME64x extension as well as the Interface for Rear I/O. The PMC-slots are in conformance with the Draft Standard Physical and Environmental Layers for PCI Mezzanine Cards: PMC (P1386.1/Draft 2.4).

To get access to the 4Kbyte register space of the VME-PCI-bridge the user has to select the base address with the DIP switch located between the VME-connectors on the AVC-2 board. The registers are mapped into the A16 address space. By default, the base address is set to 0xF000.
Table 2-2 Frontpanel LEDs 2.3.2 Frontpanel View Right side of figure below shows the front panel of the air cooled AVC-2 carrier board with two separate PMC modules connected as it could be mounted in your chassis. Left side of figure below shows the front view of the conduction cooled AVC-2 carrier board with the wedgelocks and ejectors.

3. CONNECTOR PIN ASSIGNMENTS 3 CONNECTOR PIN ASSIGNMENTS Figure 3-1 shows the VME (P0-P2) and PMC (P11-P24) connectors on the AVC-2 board. These connectors are defined in the following two sections. PMC 1 PMC 2 Figure 3-1 AVC-2 Board Connectors...
3.1 VME Connectors On the AVC-2 board the VME64x extended Connectors are used. The VME64x Connectors are designed to be backwards compatible to VME and VME64. 3.1.1 VME64x Connector P0 If this connector is assembled, the carrier board is in conformance with the VME64x Specification Documents.
3. CONNECTOR PIN ASSIGNMENTS 3.2 PMC Connectors The AVC-2 is a VME carrier board with two PMC slots. Each PMC slot consists of 4 PMC connectors. A PMC connector includes 64 pins divided into 2 rows with alternating pin count. Connector Px1 and Px2 include the general signals for 32 bit PCIbus. The connector Px3 includes the signals for 64 bit PCI extension, and the connector Px4 is for use of Rear I/O.
4. STRUCTURE OF THE AVC-2 4 STRUCTURE OF THE AVC-2 The structure of the AVC-2 carrier board is shown in block diagram below. BIU 1 Interface Specific I/O BIU 2 Interface Specific I/O PMC Slot 2 PMC Slot 1 PCI-Bus (64bit)
The PMC rear I/O connectors of PMC slot 1 and slot 2 must be assembled on both the carrier board and the PCI-Mezzanine Card The rear I/O signals must be enabled on the PMC module by assembling the rear-IO-resistors. AVC-2 Hardware Manual...
