Use

Before using this product on a child always check the product first: are the ear shells still intact, are the ear cushions intact and clean, does the elastic headband still stretches and is it intact?
Look at the mark inside the shell for left and right. The muffs should be placed directly on to the ears, without any obstructions (e.g. a hat or hair).
Release the velcro closing from both sides. Cover both ears with the earmuffs and adjust the back headband (1) by pulling the headband and then the front headband (2). Fixate by closing the velcro.
Readjust the earmuff if one of the following occurs:

  1. If the earmuffs look wrinkled, the pressure is too high and you need to loosen the headband.
  2. If the earmuffs show a gap in between the head and the earmuff, the pressure is too low and you need to tighten the headband.
    Recheck the sizing occasionally.

Removing

  1. Release the headband.
  2. Remove product from the head.

Storage

Store in a dry, clean and not too hot nor too cold environment. Use the storage bag to keep the product in good condition.

Cleaning

Clean the earmuffs with a damp cloth with lukewarm water and mild soap.
The headband can be removed by pulling it through the holes and can be handwashed at 30 degrees. Stick the velcro on to the headband before washing, to prevent damage.
The product may be adversely affected by certain chemical substances. Refer to the manufacturer for further information.
To assemble the product after washing, follow these steps:

  1. Assemble the headband on the inside of the connector of the side with the Alpine label.
  2. Long headband on the side of the Alpine label.
  3. Pull the headband though the other connector.

Maintenance

Earmuffs, and in particular cushions, may deteriorate with use and should be examined at frequent intervals for cracking and leakage, for example.

Alpine Muffy Baby (model MB2) is a hearing protector especially designed for babies and small children from 1 year old. They offer enough protection against harmfull influences of noise. Any other usage is not allowed and is not in accordance with regulations.
The level of noise entering a person's ear, when hearing protector is worn as directed, is closely approximated by the difference between the A-weighted environmental noise level and the NRR.

Example

  1. The environmental noise level as measured at the ear is 92 dBA.
  2. The NRR is (value on label) decibels (dB).
  3. The level of noise entering the ear is approximately equal to [92 dB(A)—NRR] dB(A).

For noise environments dominated by frequencies below 500 Hz the C-weighted environmental noise level should be used.
Improper fit of this device will reduce its effectiveness in attenuating noise. Consult the enclosed instructions for proper fit.
Although hearing protectors can be recommended for protection against the harmful effects of impulsive noise, the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) is based on the attenuation of continuous noise and may not be an accurate indicator of the protection attainable against impulsive noise such as gunfire.
Tested attenuation
SNR = 24 decibels (dB)
Mean SNR = 26 dB

Warnings

These earmuffs are of "small size range". Earmuffs complying with EN 352-1 are of 'medium size range', 'small size range 'or 'large size range'. 'Medium size range' earmuffs will fit the majority of users. 'Small size range' or 'large size range' earmuffs are designed to fit users for whom 'medium size range' earmuffs are not suitable.
If the product does not correctly fit on the head of your child, then your child might be too young and vulnerable to use this product.
Ensure that the earmuffs are fitted, adjusted and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Read our product manual with complete user and safety guidelines via the QR link.
The earmuffs can be used at all times in noisy environments. The time a child stays in a noise environment should be minimized.
Placing the headband too tight, may harm the fontanelle and cause discomfort. If the ear cushions show compression wrinkles the muffs are placed too tight.
Always use the earmuff under adult supervision. Do not let your child play with the Muffy Baby. It is not a toy.
Make sure the product never covers the mouth and/or nose, or the front of the neck. The child should always be able to breathe comfortably. Don't let the child pull the inside foam out of the earmuffs and swallow it.
The earmuffs should regularly inspected for need of maintenance. If you consider using hygiene covers on the earmuffs please be aware that this affects the attenuation of the earmuffs. Excessive usage time can have adverse long term effects, e.g. due to the pressure on the head. We recommend to use the product for approximately 90 min without a break and approximately 3h per day in total.
If the recommendations given in this manual are not adhered to, the protection afforded by the earmuffs will be severely impaired. Alpine does not accept any liability for any damage as a result of inproper or misuse of the product.
