    ELOFIX 8 Using the instructions The KÖCO ELOFIX 8 stud welding machine has been built according to the rules of technology and complies with the technical rules and regulations applicable at the time of delivery. The instructions for the stud welding machine contain all the information needed for the safe use of the device.

It is suitable for welding under increased elec- trical hazard (DIN EN 60974-1). Any use other than the intended use is regarded as reasonably foreseeable misuse.

    ELOFIX 8 Technical information Functional description The ELOFIX 8 stud welding machine consists of a three-phase transformer, a rectifier, a thyristor module and an electronic control unit. It is used as a welding power source and, when used in combination with a stud welding gun, serves to join cylindrical pins to metallic surfaces (stud welding).

    ELOFIX 8 5 Operation Commissioning Please observe the following information on selecting the connections and polarity: Generally, the stud is connected to minus and the workpiece to plus. In some cases, particularly when welding with non-ferrous metals, reversed polarity can improve the result. The power source is suitable for stud weld- ing with any polarity.

    5 Operation ELOFIX 8 Checking the weld The stud weld can be checked by means of a visual inspection and a bend- ing test. 5.5.1 Visual inspection Check the welded connection for a closed weld bead. When welding with a ceramic ferrule or shielding gas to protect the weld pool, the surface is shiny blue/grey and neither matt nor porous.
