5.2 Templates Your reMarkable tablet has several templates for writing or drawing in your notebooks. Choose the ruled template if you want to have lined paper for writing, the music template if you’re writing music, or the weekly schedule if you’re planning your week.
1. In the left-hand column, write the topic that ties your notes together. Include any keywords you want to look up and ‘cue’ questions to jog your memory. 2. Record the key facts on your subject using short sentences, bullets, and abbreviations in the large area on the right-hand side of the page.
5.3 Layers Layers can be used to make more complex drawings or sketches, or to show and hide sections of your work. Layers allow you to draw on different levels, and you can hide, delete, or rearrange the layers for more creative control and freedom when you’re drawing or taking notes.
When reading, writing, or sketching, you can change the screen orientation by tapping the portrait/landscape icon. How to change screen orientation: Open a file. 1. 5.6 Writing tools: Pen, pencil, brush, highlighter There’s a wide range of writing tools to choose from when creating content on your reMarkable. To access the tools, tap the writing tools icon in the sidebar. 5.6.1 Ballpoint pen The ballpoint pen is your typical pen. It’s sensitive to different levels of pressure, but won’t change thickness if you tilt your Marker.
5.6.3 Marker The marker has different line textures depending on the pressure and speed you write with. It comes in five colors (black, white, red, blue, and gray). When you're writing with the marker while using Screen Share, you can choose between red and blue color. The marker pen is great for: ●...
5.6.5 Mechanical pencil The mechanical pencil features the same continuous stroke thickness while drawing or writing, regardless of how you hold the Marker. The mechanical pencil is great for: ● Drawing precise lines ● Writing equations ● Checking off your task list 5.6.6 Paintbrush The paintbrush is sensitive to the speed and pressure you apply to the display and will respond accordingly.
5.6.7 Highlighter The highlighter lets you highlight text in PDFs, EPUBs, or in your own notebooks. Choose between yellow, green, or pink for highlighting. The highlighter will show as different shades of grey on your paper tablet, but appears in color on exported documents and in Screen Share.
5.6.8 Calligraphy pen The calligraphy pen is perfect for adding an extra flourish or style to your handwriting, and for working on your cursive. It’s sensitive to direction, which means as you write, the line’s shape and thickness will change based on the Marker’s up and down strokes. The calligraphy pen is great for: ●...
Erase selection. Use the Marker to draw around the area you want to erase. Erase all. Tap this icon to clear the whole page. 5.7.2 Undo and redo Tap Undo to reverse your last action. Tap Redo to redo the action undone by the undo button.
A selection will remain on your clipboard and can be pasted repeatedly, until you tap the Clear clipboard button, or restart your reMarkable. Clear clipboard is shown as an option whenever the selection tool is active.
5.9 Zoom Pinch to zoom lets you magnify any area of a notebook. Use this feature to focus on the part of the page you’re working on. How to zoom in and out ● Pinch with two fingers to zoom in on the part of the page you want to see. Pinch out to zoom out.
5.10 Trash Long-pressing an item allows you to select Move to trash. From trash, items can either be restored or permanently deleted. Trash is found in the sidebar menu down the bottom. Long-pressing files or folders in the trash will give you the option to either restore or delete permanently. It’s also possible to tap Empty Trash in the top right corner to permanently delete everything currently in the trash.
5.11 Integrating with Google Drive, Dropbox and One Drive Integrate the most popular cloud storage services with your paper tablet using our Integrations feature. Browse stored files, copy them to your reMarkable, and upload notes and documents directly to your Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive accounts from your paper tablet.

To remove an account from your device, go to ‘Manage Integrations’ and choose Remove under the account you want to disconnect. You can add or remove accounts at any time.

Make your notes easy to reuse in emails, reports, or presentations by converting them into text. You can then edit and share the converted text by email directly from your reMarkable. You can also convert multiple pages into typed text, use either portrait and landscape mode to write, and do quick edits to the converted text afterwards with the on-screen keyboard.
5.15.3 Converting notes into text Step-by-step instructions: 1. Open your document. 2. To convert your handwriting into text, tap the Share icon, then Convert to text and send. 3. You can edit the converted text with the on-screen keyboard. This won’t affect your handwritten notes.
Connect your device to a reMarkable account to import files to your device via the reMarkable cloud. If you didn't connect your device to your reMarkable account in the setup process, you can do this manually in account settings. Your reMarkable must be connected to Wi-Fi in order to connect.
The lock icon indicates that a password is required to connect to the Wi-Fi network. 2. The device will say Connecting to --- when your device is connecting to the selected network. 3. When you are successfully connected a white dot will appear next to the Wi-Fi name, as well as the text Connected to ---.
If automatic sleep is activated, your reMarkable will go into sleep after 2 hours, 40 minutes in light sleep or after 3 hours of inactivity. The device is not connected to Wi-Fi while in sleep mode.
6.5 Storage settings Storage gives an overview of how much free space is left on your device. The reMarkable paper tablet offers 8 GB of internal storage. 6.5.1 Device syncing A cloud icon in the bottom toolbar indicates the status of the connection to the reMarkable cloud.
The GPLv3 Compliance section contains information about how to access the device via SSH, and the password needed to do so. Note that any changes made to the reMarkable through SSH access is done at the users own risk.
You will also find the IP addresses available to connect to the reMarkable. In order to find the IP addresses, select the "Copyrights and licenses" tab. The IP addresses are found in the bottom right corner. 6.9.2 Tutorial The Tutorial section of the settings menu contains two introductory tutorials. The Getting started tour and tooltips allow you to refresh your knowledge of essential tools and features on the reMarkable.
The reMarkable cloud is a cloud service you can use to sync all your files. The cloud stores up to 8 GB of data, which is the same amount you can store on your device. The reMarkable cloud service is included in the price of the reMarkable paper tablet.
3. Drag and drop the file you want to send, or click Browse files to select your document. 4. The files you’ve sent will appear in the My files menu on your reMarkable. If you don’t have access to Wi-Fi, you can also transfer files by using a USB cable.
5. Choose the destination for the file on your computer. 7.2.6 Print from reMarkable Printing directly from the reMarkable is currently not an available option. Files can be transferred to a computer by using the desktop app, by email or by using a USB cable.
You will be redirected to a browser window where you need to log into your reMarkable account. 3. Enter the one-time code on your mobile app and tap Log in. Note that you must first be connected to a reMarkable device to be able to connect to the mobile app. 7.3.2 Organize your files The mobile app enables you to organize your files and folders, as well as to copy, move, bookmark and delete files on your mobile.
