To reduce the risk of these hazards when using an extension cord, be sure it is in good condition and that the connection does not come into contact with liquid.
Page 5 ENGLISH GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS In the event of malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. The fan must be connected to a cord having an equipment- grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
