GENERAL

1.1 Document Purpose
This document describes the Westellr DTWA528-08 Series of
8-Position Digital Terminating Wall-Mount Assemblies, one of
which is shown in Figure 1. See Table 1 for ordering information.

Hereafter, the DTWA528-08 series of 8-position Digital
Terminating Wall-Mount Assemblies may be referred to as the
DTWA528-08" or assembly." Specific models numbers will be
used where key differences apply.
1.2 Document Status
Whenever this practice is updated, the reason will be stated in this
paragraph. This practice replaces practice 030-101622 for the
models listed in Table 1.
1.3 Product Purpose and Description
The DTWA528-08 is an 8-position Digital Terminating Wall-
mount Assembly that holds up to eight 200 MECHANICSr or
four 400-type DS1 Network Interface Units (NIUs) and provides
a dedicated slot for an optional modular power supply. Facility-
side wiring connections are made to separate XMT and RCV
25-pair, amphenol-type, cable connectors or to wirewrap pins on
the printed circuit board (PCB) backplane. Customer connec-
tions are made to a Customer Interface Module (CIM) which
provides switchable RJ48C/RJ48S modular jacks and two, sepa-
rate, transmit and receive RJ48H cable connectors, to satisfy
needs for either Digital Services, Digital Data Services or Leased
Line Analog Services. The List 14 option ties pins 2 and 11 to pin
27 (Chassis Ground).
1.4 Product Mounting
The DTWA528-08 is typically mounted on an approved wall at
the customer location. This assembly is well-suited for confined
corner wall-mounting due to the reversible cover (and door) and

1.5 Product Features
The DTWA528-08 offers the following features.

Universal mounting holds up to eight 200 MECHANICSr
or four 400-type DS1, HDSL, DDS or Analog Data/Voice-
type circuits

Pre-wired backplane and connectorized to minimize wiring
errors and installation time

Facility connections are made to separate XMT and RCV
25-pair connectors or to wirewrap pins
S
CPE connections made at a unique, optional, removable,
CIM module, which contains two, 25-pair, male, RJ48H
connectors (one for XMT, one for RCV), and 8 switchable
RJ48C/RJ48S modular jacks
S
Well-suited for confined corner wall-mounting due to the
removable CIM module, which plugs into either the left or
right side of the DTWA528-08, for easy CPE access
S
Removable and reversible metal cover, complete with see-
through, hinged, front door (key locking cover available)
S
Reversible cover allows door opening from the left or right
