installation and operation of your fitting. Read this leaflet fully before
attempting installation and retain for future reference.

Read this first before installation:

This product must be installed by a competent person
in accordance with the current building and IET wiring regulations (BS7671).
>
As the buyer/installer and /or user of this product, it is your own
responsibility to ensure that this fitting is fit for the purpose for which you have
intended it.
>
Switch off the mains before commencing installation and remove the
appropriate circuit fuse or lock off MCB.
>
The lamps&batteries supplied with this fitting are consumable parts and
therefore may be outside of any warranty offered.
>
This unit is suitable for indoor use only.
>
This product is designed for permanent connection to fixed wiring: this must
be a suitable circuit (protected with the appropriate MCB or fuse).
>
Before making fixing hole(s),check that there are no obstructions hidden
beneath the mounting surface such as pipes or cables.
>
The chosen location of your new fitting should allow for the product to be
securely mounted (e.g. to a ceiling joist) and safely connected to the mains
supply (lighting circuit).
>
Do not attach to surfaces which are damp,freshly painted
or otherwise electrically conductive (e.g. metallic surfaces).
>
When making connections ensure that the terminals are tightened securely
and that no strands of wire protrude. Check that the terminals are tightened onto
the bared conductors and not onto any insulation.
>
Make connections to the electrical supply in accordance with the following
code:
Live - Brown or Red
Live1 - Brown or Red
Neutral - Blue or Black
>
Remove wire link for non-maintained use.
>
This fitting is double insulated;do not connect any part to earth.
>
This product is not intended to be used by children and persons with sensory,
physical and /or mental impairments that would prevent them from using it
safely.
Installation
This product is multi-functional and can be ceiling mounted in two positions,
suspended and recessed and also wall mounted with the guide panel hanging
down. Choose your preferred location and follow the relevant instructions listed
below and referring to the corresponding drawings.
Existing fitting must be completely removed before installation of a new product.
Before removing the existing fitting carefully note the position of the each set of
wires.
>
For suspended ceiling mounting (Drawing A) using the ceiling cover as the
template. Mark: and drill the fixing hole. Take care to avoid damaging
concealed wiring and pipes. then attach the ceiling cover in place
with supplied screws. Make sure the suspension cables are secured
in place.
For recessed ceiling mounting (Drawing B)· Cut a hole in the

ceiling using an apprpriate tool. Cut out sizes 360x60mm..
Minimum ceiling void depth is 100mm. lt is recommended to cut
the hole slightly smaller than needed, then file the hole until the
recessed units fits snugly. Fit the spring clips and slide the
recessed cover over the product from the bottom upwards until the
cover clips in place. Push the spring clips and fit into the ceiling
recess hole.
For wall mounting 1 (Drawing C):Remove the two screws on top of
•
the product and arrange angled bracket in place on product .
Tighten the angled bracket in place using the removed screws.
Using the bracket as a template mark and drill the fixing holes. Take
care to avoid damaging any concealed wiring and pipes. Then
attach the product with the bracket to wall.
After installation, you should allow 24
hours for the battery pack to charge fully
before testing. Isolate the power supply
and check that the light remains
illuminated for at least three hours.
Restore the power supply.

A fire officer or other authorised person
may want to see your record of
inspection and testing.

For Vertical Wall Mounting (Drawing D):Using the supplied corner
•
bracket as a template, mark and drill the fixing hole and
attach the bracket to the wall. Take care to avoid damaging
any concealed wiring and pipes. Push light fitting through
corner bracket hole. Attach the fitting to the bracket with the
supplied screw.
For Ceiling mounting (Drawing E) :Remove two screws on both ends of the
body and lift off the top cover. Then drill the 2 mounting holes on the top
cover. Use the rear of the case as a template, Mark the position of the fixing
holes and cable entry hole on your mounting surface. Thread your mains
supply cable through the large hole in the rear of the case.
IMPORTANT:Always switch off at the mains before changing the lamp. You
are advised at every stage of your installation to double-check any electrical
connections you have made. After you have completed your installation there
are electrical tests that should be carried out. these tests are specified in the
current IET wiring and building regulations.
Each day:
Check that the charging indicator LEDs are lit.
Each mont h :
Isolate the power supply and check the light remains
illuminated. Endorse the test record form on the rear.
Every six months:
Isolate the power supply and check that the light is
still illuminated after 1 hour. Endorse the test record
form on the rear.
Once each year:

Isolate the power supply and check that the light is
still illuminated after 3 hours. Endorse the test
record form on the rear.
