• Before use, test on a known live circuit to ensure the tool is functioning
properly. Do not use if damaged in any way.
• If no indication, voltage may still be present.
• Failure to follow instructions could result in serious injury or death.
• Use caution with voltages above 30V AC as a shock hazard may exist.
Do not apply more than the rated voltage as marked on the detector.
• Never assume neutral or ground wires are de-energized. Neutral wires
in multi-wire branch circuits may be energized when disconnected and
must be retested before handling.
• Operation may be affected by differences in outlet design and
insulation thickness and type.
• The detector WILL NOT detect voltage if:
• The wire is shielded.
• The voltage is DC.
• The detector MAY NOT detect voltage if:
• The wire is partially buried or in a grounded metal conduit.
• The field created by the voltage source is being blocked, dampened, or
otherwise interfered with.
• The frequency of the voltage is not a perfect sine wave between 50 Hz
and 500 Hz.
• The tip of the detector is not within 0.25" of an AC voltage source
radiating unimpeded.
• The air humidity is not nominal (50% relative humidity – non-condensing).
• The detector is not held still.
• Do not use the detector around strong electromagnetic fields.
• This tool is intended for indoor use.
• Do not stare at or look directly into laser.
• Thermometer is NOT intended for use on people or animals.
• Temperature readings of reflective materials may be cooler than the
actual temperature.
• Never use without battery cover in place.
• This tool is rated measurement category IV, for measurements
performed at the source of a low-voltage installation and outside line.

ASSEMBLY
Changing Battery
Only use alkaline batteries. Do not use zinc-carbon batteries. If the tool will
not be used for a long time, remove the batteries as a protection against
corrosion.
1. When the batteries are low, the low battery indicator is displayed on
the LCD.
2. Twist 1/4 turn to unlock the battery cap.
3. Remove and properly dispose of the old batteries.
4. Install the batteries according to the polarity marked on the tool.
5. Twist 1/4 turn to lock the battery cap and ensure a tight seal with the
o-ring. WARNING! Never use tool without battery cover in place.
OPERATION
To reduce the risk of electric shock or injury, test on a

known live circuit to ensure the tool is functioning
properly before use. Do not use detector if damaged in any way.
Turning the Detector On/Off
1. Press the NCV button to turn on the detector. The tip will light green
with a single beep.
2. Press the NCV button to turn off the detector.
3. The detector automatically shuts off after 5 minutes of no use.
Selecting Audible or Silent Mode
The detector automatically starts in audible mode when powered on. To
change the mode, press and hold the NCV button for two seconds. The
tip will flash green to indicate silent mode is activated, or it will flash green
and beep to indicate audible mode is activated.
Selecting Temperature Units
The detector automatically starts in Fahrenheit (°F) or the last selected unit,
when powered on. To change the units to Celsius (°C) or back to Fahrenheit,
press and hold the infrared thermometer and NCV buttons simultaneously.

Checking for the Presence of AC Voltage
WARNING
Use caution with voltages above 30V AC as a shock hazard may exist.

1. Turn the detector on.
2. Place tip of the detector near AC voltage. If voltage is detected the tip
will turn red and beep:
• For low voltage (12V) detection, the red light blinks slowly and the tool
beeps.
• For high voltage (120V) detection, the red light remains on and the tool
beeps continuously.
WARNING
Do not stare at or look directly into the laser.
While holding down the IR button, aim the laser at the object to be mea-
sured. The temperature will display on the LCD. The error code "HI" will
appear on the LCD if the measurement is hotter than the measurement
range, or "LO" if it is colder. The error code "Ot" will appear if the am-
bient temperature is outside the operating temperature range.
NOTE: Releasing the button will hold the last measurement taken. The
thermometer will automatically deactivate after about 10 seconds of inac-
tivity and the held reading will be cleared.
The targeting laser has a distance-to-spot ratio of 4:1, which describes
the relationship of the distance between the detector and the object, to
the target measurement area.

Certification
This MILWAUKEE power tool* is warranted to the original purchaser from an authorized MILWAUKEE
distributor only to be free from defects in material and workmanship. Subject to certain exceptions,
MILWAUKEE will repair or replace any part on this power tool which, after examination, is determined
by MILWAUKEE to be defective in material or workmanship for a period of two (2) years after the
date of purchase unless otherwise noted. Return of the power tool to a MILWAUKEE factory Service
Center location or MILWAUKEE Authorized Service Station, freight prepaid and insured, is required.
A copy of the proof of purchase should be included with the return product. This warranty does not
apply to damage that MILWAUKEE determines to be from repairs made or attempted by anyone
other than MILWAUKEE authorized personnel, misuse, alterations, abuse, normal wear and tear,
lack of maintenance, or accidents.
Normal Wear: Many power tools need periodic parts replacement and service to achieve best
performance. This warranty does not cover repair when normal use has exhausted the life of a
part including, but not limited to, chucks, brushes, cords, saw shoes, blade clamps, o-rings, seals,
bumpers, driver blades, pistons, strikers, lifters, and bumper cover washers.
*This warranty does not cover battery packs or all power tools. Refer to the separate and distinct
warranties available for those products.
The warranty period for the LED in the LED Work Light (49-24-0171) and the LED Upgrade Bulb
(49-81-0090) is the lifetime of the product subject to the limitations above. If during normal use the
LED or LED Upgrade Bulb fails, the part will be replaced free of charge.
Warranty Registration is not necessary to obtain the applicable warranty on a MILWAUKEE power
tool product. The manufacturing date of the product will be used to determine the warranty period
if no proof of purchase is provided at the time warranty service is requested.

MONTAGE DE L'OUTIL
Remplacement des piles
Utiliser uniquement des piles alcalines. Ne pas utiliser des piles au
zinc-charbon. Si l'outil n'est pas utilisé pour une longue période, retirer les
piles en tant que mesure de protection contre la corrosion.
1. Lorsque la charge des piles est faible, l'avertisseur de faible charge
s'affichera sur l'écran ACL.
2. Faire un 1/4 de tour pour déverrouiller le couvercle des piles.
3. Retirer les vieilles piles et les jeter comme il faut.
4. Installer les piles d'après la polarité marquée sur l'outil.
5. Faire 1/4 de tour pour verrouiller le couvercle des piles et s'assurer de le
fermer à étanchéité à l'aide de l'anneau torique. AVERTISSEMENT ! Ne
jamais utiliser sans le couvercle des piles sur place.
MANIEMENT
Afin d'éviter le risque de décharge électrique,
AVERTISSEMENT
veuillez le tester sur un circuit sous tension
connu pour s'assurer que l'outil fonctionne comme il faut. Ne pas
utiliser s'il est endommagé de quelque façon que ce soit.
Mise en marche / arrêt du testeur
1. Appuyer sur la touche TSN pour allumer le testeur. La pointe s'allumera
verte et bippera une fois.
2. Enfoncer la touche TSN pour éteindre le testeur.
3. Le testeur s'éteindra automatiquement après 5 minutes d'inactivité.
Sélection du mode sonore ou silencieux
Le testeur démarre automatiquement en mode sonore alors qu'il est allumé.
Pour changer le mode, enfoncer la touche TSN durant deux secondes.
La pointe clignotera vert pour signaler l'activation du mode silencieux, ou
bien il clignotera vert et bippera pour signaler l'activation du mode sonore.
Sélection des unités de température
Le testeur démarrera automatiquement, alors qu'il est allumé, en Fahren-
heit (ºF) ou la dernière unité sélectionnée. Pour changer les unités vers
Celsius (ºC) ou revenir sur Fahrenheit, enfoncer la touche TSN et celle du
thermomètre infrarouge en même temps.
