General General Definitions Operator People who provide tanning devices to users on a commercial basis. The operator is responsible for the orderly operation of the device as well as com- pliance with the maintenance intervals. User A person who uses the tanning device at a commercial location. Staff People who are responsible for the operation, cleaning as well as general maintenance work and who instruct the users in the operation of the devices.

Safety notes NOTE: Occasionally, persons using the tanning device will experi- ence a slight reddening of the skin – usually in small patches – after the second or third session. This redness is often accompanied by an itching sensation. This may be nothing more than a very limited heat 'rash' caused by heat from the lamps within the device and it should go away within approx- imately 24 hours and not reappear.

ESSENTIAL SUNSHINE Only the UV-B lamps are switched on when using this device in this way. UV-B radiation is conducive to vitamin D production.
