Description:
Peavey Solo

Weighing in at only 15 lbs., the llithium-ionbatery-powered Peavey Solo™ is the perfect solution for a wide variety of portable applications, whether you want professional grade sound for streaming from any Bluetooth Audio device at the beach, park, or party, or you are looking for a small PA for announcements, portable tour groups, or playing your guitar, keyboard or other instrument remotely.

With more than 55 years of audio excellence and many patents to prove it, the Peavey Solo uses exclusive features that truly set us apart from the competition. Our exclusive Guitar Input selection changes the input type and EQ on the guitar channel to optimize it for the instrument. Our Mid-Morph EQ makes dialing in the perfect sound for a microphone simple; as you turn it, it automatically helps you select the best mix.

You'll never hear anything like the clarity that comes from Peavey Kosmos®. This feature will brighten dead guitar strings or enhance the clarity of just about anything you plug in. Our channel priority feature allows announcements to automatically take priority over music channels and lowers the volume of the music long enough to talk over it, perfect for mobile DJs or events.

Sonically superior to our competition and featuring a wide coverage patern, the Peavey Solo is perfect for making music all day or night, anywhere you need it. Everything you need and nothing you don't from the audio experts at Peavey.

Top Panel

Top Panel Overview

Input Panel

  1. MIC/LINE INPUT (CH.1-2)
This combination input jack can accept either a ¼" (balanced or unbalanced) input or a XLR balanced, low impedance connection. The tip is positive on the ¼" balanced connector and pin 2 is positive on the XLR input. The XLR would typically be a dynamic microphone and the 1/4" input would be a line level source.
  2. Volume Control
The volume control adjusts the amount of signal from each channel in the mix. Typical operation is between 3 and 8 (dependent upon the input devices) but should be lower than the master level. Please remember that this acts like a preamp, so if you are using a device that has a volume output control (i.e. a tape or CD player) you will need to match the levels by adjusting the level controls on each unit.
  3. Priority
When this button is pressed, speaking into the mic in channel 1 will automatically lower the Bluetooth signal approximately 20dB. This will allow important announcements to be heard over Bluetooth background music in the speaker.
  4. Mid-Morph EQ (CH.1-2)
Where most mid-range controls work at just one frequency, the patented Peavey Mid-Morph works at two. When turned counterclockwise, it cuts the 250Hz to reduce frequencies that muddy the sound. When turned clockwise, it boosts at 4kHz to add intelligibility to vocals. Either way, improved vocal or instrument definition can be achieved.
  5. Reverb Control
This is used as a send control to the effects bus. It controls the amount of reverberation that is added to the output signal from a corresponding channel.
  6. Line Input (CH.3-4)
This balanced ¼" input allows for line level signals to be added to the SOLO. The tip is positive. When the GTR (7) button is pressed, the ¼" input changes to a high impedance (1Meg ohm), like a 12AX7 vacuum tube guitar amplifier input.
  7. GTR (CH. 3-4)
Engaging this button optimizes the on-board equalization for electric guitar.
  8. EQ (CH.3-4)
This active EQ control shapes the sound of the signal in channels 3 and 4. Turning the control clockwise boosts the bass and treble signals simultaneously. Turning the control counter-clockwise, reduces the bass and treble signals.
  9. Kosmos
This control is a very selective high frequency filter with a high Q. The effect varies with source material, so some experimentation is required for optimum results. But it can normally be used to add some clarity to the high frequency range.
  10. Master Level
This control sets the output level of the speaker.
  11. Bluetooth Pair Button and LED
To pair with a Bluetooth device, press the Pair button. The blue pair LED will begin to blink and the SOLO can now be discovered by your Bluetooth device. Once the SOLO is discovered, you can connect to it by selecting it on your device. Once they are paired, the blue LED will quit blinking and illuminate continuously.

information NOTE: When the two units are BT linked, only the Bluetooth signal from the first unit will appear in the second unit. It will not transmit the other inputs.

  1. Bluetooth Link
To link the SOLO to a second SOLO, press the Link button on the first unit your BT device is paired with.
The blue pair LED will begin to blink. With the second SOLO powered up, press the BT Pair to activate the BT mode. Then press the Bluetooth Link button, the two units will now connect to each other. Once they are connected, the Link LED's will stop blinking and illuminate continuously.

  2. AC Power Inlet
This is the receptacle for an IEC line cord, which provides AC power to the unit. Connect the line cord to this connector to provide power to the unit. Damage to the equipment may result if improper line voltage is used. Never break off the ground pin on any equipment. It is provided for your safety. If the outlet used does not have a ground pin, a suitable grounding adapter should be used and the third wire should be grounded properly. To prevent the risk of shock or fire hazard, always make sure that the amplifier and all associated equipment it properly grounded.
  3. Power Switch
This is the main power switch.
  4. Battery Charge Level LED's
The battery charge level LED's show the charge status of the battery. When the power switch (14) is put in the "on" position, the LED array will display the battery charge status, 25%, 50%, 75% or 100%. The speaker can be used normally while charging.
When the unit is turned off and AC power is applied to the AC inlet (13), the red charge LED will illuminate continuously. Once the battery is fully charged, the LED will turn green. It can take up to 2 hours to fully charge the internal battery to 100%.
