Chapter 1 Safety 1.1 Safety Information For the continuing safety of the operators of this equipment, and the protection of the equipment itself, the operator should take note of the Warnings, Cautions and Notes throughout this handbook and, where visible, on the product itself. The following safety symbols may be used throughout the handbook and on the equipment itself.

2.1 General Description The Nexus Optical Table Workstation is an active vibration isolation system used to isolate an optical table from vertical and horizontal vibrations in order to provide a stable platform for sensitive experiments and applications.

2.2 Installing the Frame Warning During this procedure, safe lifting precautions must be observed. In particular, do not lift more than 25 kg (55 lb) per person. Use more people or lifting apparatus as necessary. Frame weights are detailed in Chapter 4. 1) Position the crate in the location the frame is to be installed, then open the crate and remove all packaging to gain access to the frame components inside.

Chapter 2 6) Position the isolators as shown below, then using the M10 x 25 bolts supplied, attach the upper and lower rear tie bars to one of the isolator pairs as shown in Fig. 2.3. Caution To allow access for the fork lift or pallet truck when installing the table top, do not fit the front tie bar at this point. Fig.

Nexus Optical Table Workstation 7) Position the assembly as shown in Fig. 2.4, then using the M10 x 25 bolts supplied, attach the remaining isolator pair to the upper and lower rear tie bars. Chapter 2 Note The system is supplied with the air hoses for each isolator pair already connected. Item (9) is applicable only if the hoses have been disconnected. 9) Using the 6mm outside diameter nylon tubing and T-pieces supplied, connect the isolators as shown in Fig.

Nexus Optical Table Workstation 2.3.2 Fitting the Shelf Warning When performing sub-item (1) below, good lifting practices should be observed and proper posture maintained. Do not lift loads in excess of 25kg per operator. If in doubt employ 2 persons.
