Page 9 4.0 DESCRIPTION The TRU-CLIP Connector and associated proprietary Key Links form a se- quenced connector system that enhances the safety of TRUBLUE Auto Belay users. One Key Link is attached to the climber’s harness and another to an appropriate connection point on the climbing element (e.g., a belay gate). To use the system, the climber connects the Key Link on their harness to the TRU-CLIP Connector, which detaches the Key Link from the appropriate con- nection point.

Page 13 TRU-CLIP webbing assemblies are ONLY available for and compatible with TRUBLUE Auto Belays. They are not compatible with any other devices from Head Rush Technologies or devices from any other manufacturer. The TRU- CLIP Connector is integrated into webbing assemblies for the following TRUBLUE Auto Belays and is available as a replacement webbing assembly.
Page 14 WARNING The anchorage and connectors used in the fall arrest system must con- form to all applicable requirements specified in the Auto Belay manual, be suitable for use in a fall arrest system, compatible in size and material characteristics, and have a minimum load capacity of 10 kN (2200 lbs) in expected directions of application.
Page 15 The TRU-CLIP Connector and Key Link must be used together to form a proper connection. Neither can be used independently or with compo- nents not manufactured by Head Rush Technologies. WARNING Users should always connect/disconnect the system at a safe location where there is no risk of falling from height.
Page 16 TRUBLUE Auto Belays when the webbing assembly is retired or replaced. The TRU-CLIP Connector and Key Links do not require periodic examination by Head Rush Technologies or an authorized service center. Inspections and maintenance shall be completed in accordance with this manual by a compe- tent individual.
Page 17 8.1.1 INSTALL TRU-CLIP WEBBING ASSEMBLY INTO THE TRUBLUE AUTO BELAY New TRUBLUE Auto Belay devices equipped with TRU-CLIP Connectors can Step 8.1.2. proceed to Webbing installation and replacement on TRUBLUE Auto Belays is the same for TRU-CLIP webbings as for all webbing connector variants. Page 18 4. Thread the small Key Link Pin Set Screw into its hole on the side of the Key Link Bow. Hand-tighten the Key Link Pin Set Screw using a 2mm hex key tool. 5. Visually check to ensure the Key Link Pin Set Screw is not pro- truding from its threaded hole in the Key Link Bow.
Page 19 When annual recertification is performed on the Auto Belay by Head Rush Technologies or an autho- rized service center, the TRU-CLIP Connector sent with the device will also be inspected.
Page 20 Connecting a Climber to the TRU-CLIP Connector The TRU-CLIP Connector from the TRUBLUE Auto Belay is attached to a Key Link on an appropriate connection point. 1. The climber should be wearing a harness with Key Link installed. Pull the TRUBLUE Auto Belay webbing down to ensure proper retraction function of the TRUBLUE Auto Belay device.
Page 21 Disconnecting a Climber from the TRU-CLIP Connector When the climber arrives back at the base of the climb and needs to discon- nect from the TRU-CLIP Connector: 1. Squeeze TRU-CLIP Connector Release Buttons. 2. Insert the Key Link on the ap- propriate connection point into the empty slot on the TRU-CLIP Connector.
Page 22 The TRU-CLIP Connector and Key Link do not require additional periodic examination by Head Rush Technologies or an authorized service center. Retirement criteria are based solely on inspection for wear and function of the overall webbing assembly in accor- dance with this manual.
