• Make sure you are in full control of the handpiece as well as foot pedal and are aiming the handpiece nozzle in a safe direction. • Make sure you have selected the correct powder for the treatment you are performing. Incorrect selection of powder type may cause hard or soft tissue damage. • Use a high volume intra-oral aspirator during treatment. The Dental Healthcare Professional must consult their patient prior to performing treatment with AquaCare if they suffer from any of the following conditions: • Respiratory difficulties, asthma, blocked nasal passages or cold • Any other medical problem preventing breathing through the nose • A restricted sodium diet • Sensitivity/intolerance to alcohol The AquaCare Air Abrasion and Polishing unit is powered by compressed air. The AquaCare chambers are pressure locked. Allow the unit to depressurize fully after turning off before attempting to open, this can take up to 30 seconds. Sterilize the handpiece prior to first use and between each patient treatment. When operating intra-orally, ensure the handpiece is within the oral cavity prior to activation. With frequent use, the handpiece may form perforations in the swan neck tube and wear to the outer edge of the nozzle (see Fig.1 below). The handpiece must therefore be regularly inspected before use. Do not use the handpiece if damaged, as this could lead to patient injury. Connecting The Air Supply The AquaCare Device is designed to function using Clean, Dry Air between 4 - 7 bar, meeting the requirements of ISO 8573.1 class 1.4.1. Failure to provide Air to the above requirements will lead to problems when operating the unit - damp or oil contaminated Air will cause blockages in the Powder/Air delivery system reducing performance, and operation of the unit.

Preparing The AquaCare For First Use When training with the AquaCare, aim the handpiece nozzle into the inlet of a high volume evacuation unit, also using a towel to capture stray powder. Always wear approved eye protection when operating the AquaCare. See Introduction: Safety Warnings, Page 7-8.

Treatment Tips The AquaCare operates with low noise, and has no vibration or heat at the handpiece tip. Its ability to cut wet or dry gives it a high flexibility of use. Local anaesthetic can be offered to nervous patients or those with a high level of dental sensitivity, however it is generally not required as fluid abrasion is painless in most cases.

Move the handpiece slowly over the tooth surface. The most effective way to use AquaCare for this procedure is to use the handpiece as if it were a paintbrush, making light strokes across the surface of the tooth until the surface is clean.

Volume – Midway position (on media control) The AquaCare is of particular use for treating fissure caries. Hold the handpiece nozzle approximately 2mm from the surface of the tooth and direct the particulate beam at the caries. Use it in short bursts, sweeping it along the vein until all the dark caries are removed and the sound tooth structure is revealed.

They should be checked regularly for any visible damage. If there is any damage or cracks, do not use the AquaCare unit until it has been inspected by a Medivance Instruments Ltd. Representative or local AquaCare Dealer.
