CHARGING INSTRUCTIONS

Dentists recommend that you brush your teeth gently to avoid tooth and gum abrasion. Exclusive HoMedics' Smart Sensor™ technology activates the brushing action when just the lightest amount of pressure is applied, to help protect teeth and gums and reinforce proper brushing habits.
Follow this procedure before you use the PowerDent Ultra for the first time.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.

1. Plug the charger base into a 120-volt outlet. Place the handle into the base and allow it to charge for at least 16 hours before using it for the first time.
2. The charger indicator light on the handle will glow red when the tooth brush is correctly placed in the charger base. This is an indication that the handle is charging. The indicator will turn off when the toothbrush is removed from the base.
3. The optimum voltage for charging is 120V.
4. To maintain the unit's full performance, it should always be replaced back on the charging base after use.

Note: Charge for at least 16 hours before using the unit for the first time.

HOW TO USE POWERDENT ULTRA

1. Attach the brush head to the handle by positioning the brush head at a 90-degree angle to the left of the handle (See Figure A). Turn the brush head counter clockwise one-quarter turn, so the bristles are facing the same direction as the ON/OFF button, and the brush head will snap into place. The Smart Sensor logo will be facing forward as will the bristles. (See Figure B)
   
2. Before brushing, wet the brush head to moisten, then apply toothpaste.
3. TO USE WITH SMART SENSOR TECHNOLOGY
   Push the ON/OFF button briefly, and the corresponding LED light will glow green, indicating that the power is ON. Apply brush head against your teeth to activate the toothbrush (See Figure C). Unit will not operate (no function) until pressure is applied to the brush head. If you do not apply pressure to the brush head for 15 seconds the unit will turn off, along with the green LED light.
   TO USE WITHOUT SMART SENSOR TECHNOLOGY
   Press and hold the ON/OFF button for about 2 seconds, after which time the unit will automatically begin working. This option, to override the Smart Sensor feature, is available for those who have learned how to brush with a light touch or would prefer not to use this feature.
   
4. Guide the brush head to your teeth, placing it at a 45 degree angle towards the gum line. Gently guide the brush head from tooth to tooth, spending a few seconds on the surface of each tooth.

5. Brush the gum lines as well as the teeth, starting with the outside teeth and gums, followed by the insides and finish with the chewing surfaces. Ensure that you spend equal time in all 4 quadrants of your mouth.
6. Do not press too hard or scrub with this unit. Remember the unit is activated with the lightest pressure to help protect teeth and gums.
7. The auto timer feature will automatically turn the unit off after the 2-minute dentist recommended brushing time. Note: To turn the unit off before the 2 minutes have elapsed, simply press the ON/OFF button. Ensure the unit is off when traveling with the PowerDent Ultra.
8. Rinse mouth thoroughly with water.
9. Remove brush head and rinse under running water.
10. Brush heads should be replaced every 2-3 months to ensure optimal performance.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Note: We recommend soaking the brush head in a denture cleaner (commercially available) every 2 to 4 weeks to keep it hygienically clean.

1. After use, turn the toothbrush off and rinse thebrush head for several seconds under running water.
2. Take the brush head off the handle and rinse bothparts under running water and wipe them dry. Note: Be sure to point the handle downward (upside down) when rinsing. Do not allow water to drain down into handle.
3. Place the handle back on the charging base. Note: For optimal charging base stability, run the power cord through the right or left slot on the back of the charging base.
4. When the unit is not in use for an extended period, unplug the cord and store.
5. Clean the charger base periodically with a soft cloth orpaper towel. The charger base must be dry before plugging it into an electrical outlet.

MEDICAL SAFEGUARDS

Please note the following instructions for your continued safety.

1. Similar to starting any new oral hygiene regime, contact your dentist before using PowerDent Ultra if you have had oral or periodontal surgery.
2. Contact your dentist if excessive bleeding occurs or if bleeding continues after 2 weeks.
3. This product is designed for cleaning teeth and gums only.
   Do not use for any other purpose.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

REMOVING AND DISPOSING OF NI-CAD BATTERIES
This unit is equipped with long-lasting, rechargeable nickelcadmium batteries. To help protect our environment, they should be removed at the end of the unit's life for safe disposal. Batteries CANNOT be replaced.

To remove the batteries before discarding product:

1. Place the handle in the charging base and turn counter clockwise to remove the cap.
2. Slide the battery out of the handle and remove.
3. Dispose of the cell-pack in compliance with national or local regulations for environmental protection and recycling of raw materials. Do not dispose of the cell-pack by burning or incineration.

Note: During the first few days of use, your gums may bleed slightly. Any bleeding should stop within a few days. If your gums continue to bleed for a period of 2 weeks or more, discontinue use and consult your dentist.

Opening the handle will destroy the appliance and invalidate the warranty.
Note: A change in the shape of the bristles is normal after use. Toothbrush head should be replaced every 2-3 months.

Note: The handle may warm up during charging. This has no effect on the unit's operation.
PowerDent Ultra comes with 3 color coded brush heads for multiple users.
