A section view of the shaker’s vibration head is shown in Figure 2. The shaker consists of an electromagnetic exciter, driven by an oscillator at a frequency of 159.2 Hz (1,000 rads ). A small ICP® accelerometer provides a servo feedback to maintain a constant vibration level of 1 g. This enables accelerometers with masses up to 7.4 oz (210 grams) to be exited without their mass influencing the reference level.

The unit has several unique features of interest: Continuous Use Option Switch: In this mode, once the shaker is turned on, it does not shut off until the On/Off button is depressed a second time. The default position of this switch is Auto; the unit turns off automatically after 90 seconds.
