Horizontal Windlasses: Sometimes it is not possible to fit the sensor to a horizontal windlass due to the layout of the gearbox. or it may need to be fitted by the windlass manufacturer. Before starting check with your Auto Anchor supplier that it is possible to fit the sensor to your windlass.

2.2 WINDLASS INSTALLATION 2.2.1 Installation on a Vertical Windlass – Chain Only Refer to the Overview Notes on page 3 before starting installation. Seal with minimum 1mm epoxy. 2.2.4 Installation on a Horizontal Windlass – Rope and Chain Before starting check with your Auto Anchor supplier, that it is possible to fit the sensor and magnet to your horizontal windlass. For an accurate rope count the rode must run between the sensor and magnet. On a horizontal windlass the magnet and sensor must be fitted by the windlass manufacturer.

2.5 VOLTAGE LEVELS Neither the windlass nor the Auto Anchor will operate with insufficient power. (See minimum voltages below). Batteries must be properly maintained and charged, and all connections and wires must be of good quality and the correct gauge to prevent voltage drop. PART 3 SETUP 3.1 SYSTEM OVERVIEW The AA802 Smart Box works with the AA870 Smart Console through wireless connectivity. When using wireless, the AA802 and AA870 will need to be paired to operate the system. Only the AA800 Smart Sensor can be installed with the AA802. The AA870 is powered using the NMEA 2000 backbone.

Sensor Gain is the level of magnetic field around the sensor head and controls the registering of rope and chain. Scroll to Sensor Gain Sensor Gain. 4.3 SETUP AND TESTING Before use, the Auto Anchor must be correctly setup for the equipment it is to control and then tested in a safe environment. The Auto Anchor will not count correctly if the windlass selection is wrong, or the windlass is not standard (e.g. it is installed with a different chainwheel or motor).

PART 5 MAINTENANCE The Auto Anchor does not contain any user serviceable parts. User maintenance is limited to: • Checking all cables and connections for signs of wear or damage and replacing them as necessary. • Checking the sensor head is not worn and has not moved out of alignment with the magnet and replacing the sensor if necessary.

PART 6 TROUBLESHOOTING Messages are displayed on the AA870 console screen to assist with operation and troubleshooting. These messages are designed to assist the user. They may be information messages, for example that the console is locked. They may also be diagnostic messages, for example, that the sensor installation is not compatible, or the power supply is wired incorrectly.
