Acceptable Products The Giesen Coffee Roaster W6A and W15A sole purpose are to roast coffee beans. No other products may be processed since it may lead to fire, explosions or other dangerous situations.

• The roaster is vented to the approx. 800 kg (450 kg for the outside; W6A and 720 kg for the W15A) • Ensure that the area is well lit • The surface is horizontal and for safely operating and concrete.

2) Unload your roaster We advise a forklift truck to unload your roaster. Make sure the forklift truck is controlled by individuals who have been trained properly and contain a license to operate the equipment. Do not lift the roaster by the hopper or by the cooling sieve.

Connecting the roaster The connectors have red safety plugs. These plugs make sure that the control panel is not connected incorrectly. Do not remove the red safety plugs. 1. Remove the 2 screws from the backplate with hex key nr 3 and remove the backplate.

3. Connect the flexible hose to the roaster. 4. Reattach the backplate using the screws and hex key nr. 3. 5. Attach the gas hose. This can only be done by a certified technician.

Electric Installation Electric Installation Only authorized skilled persons are allowed to effect electrical connection! The roaster must be electrically grounded in accordance with local codes. General options: Let’s roast! 1. Connect the roaster. Insert the socket into outlet. 2. Make sure the emergency stop button is pulled up and press reset on the control panel. 3. Press F2 once, then push the roasting button to start the roaster.

4. Check the temperature and adjust if needed. The temperature is set on 200 °C (factory default). Set required roasting temperature by pushing the cursor up / down buttons. The Set value will show the setpoint. 5. Release the beans into the drum by opening the handle.

7. When the beans are ready, start the stirrer by pushing the stirrer button. Then slowly open the door to release the beans into the cooling area. To start a new batch, return to step 7. When all batches have been completed, push the roasting button to turn off the burner.

Advanced Operation The operation console has a lot of advanced features. With these features, you can view and set advanced values for your roaster. Below we will explain each screen of this console. Main Screen Displays setpoint (T-Set) and actual air temperature.

Drum (under)pressure Use Up/Down to increase / decrease drum pressure. Default = 110 Drum rotation speed Use Up/Down to increase/decrease the drum rotation speed. Default = 55Hz. Temperature units Use F2/F3 to select Celsius or Fahrenheit. Language Select your language, English, French, German or Spanish. Version Displays current software version PLC.

Default Settings The Stirrer of the W6 needs to be at 46 Hz, and the Stirrer of the W15 needs to be at 44 Hz.

Daily Maintenance 1. First, turn off the roaster following the shutdown procedure. 2. Finish the cooling down. The red light should stop blinking. The drum’s temperature is below 50 degrees Celsius. 3. Remove the collector and empty it. You can do this on the right side of the roaster.

6. Remove the cooling tray. a. Warning: The cooling tray is very heavy. Remove the cooling tray with two people. 7. Remove the two split cover doors 8. Remove the internal cyclone 9. Clean everything with a vacuum cleaner...

10. Return cyclone and split the covers and cooling tray on the original position 11. Remove the door on the right of the machine with a hex key. a. NOTE: You can find the hex key in this bag. 12. Clean inside the hole with a vacuum cleaner. Close the door with the hex key afterwards.

Only authorized skilled persons are allowed to adjust the drum. Always do this on the instruction of a Giesen Coffee Roasters trained person. (1) Unscrew the three countersunk screws with the delivered tools. (2) Turn 90 degrees clockwise with the key hook to adjust the drum to the back.

(4) Screw the 3 countersunk screws tight to fix the drum. Lubrication Lubrication is very important for the roaster. It will keep the front and back bearing in good shape. Every week a few drops. 1. Oil valve on the front in both sides: Left side: 2.
