Condor Series Tips, Tricks & FAQ
Introduction
Overview
The following application guide is to provide users with Tips, Tricks and answer some FAQ's with the following modules,
415U-2-C3 & C4
415U-E-C3 & C4
415U-BSR Base Station Repeater
The use of this guide is in no way replacing the specific modules user manuals and installation guides.
Repeater Provides a redundant Base Station and Repeater for Remote 415U-2 radio modules.
USB Connectivity
I cannot connect via USB to the module.
Ensure USB driver is installed for the 415U-2, 415U-E. Install the latest Configuration Utility, (check
www.elpro.com.au/resource/configuration-software
I could connect via USB but now I do not get any connection.
If you have installed the latest Configuration software, then the driver should be installed correctly. At times PC's may not always
detect the USB device when connected,
Disconnect the USB cable from module
Wait 20 seconds , plug USB back into module
Check Windows Device Manager Network Adaptors shows "Elpro 415U-2 USB Ethernet/RNDIS Interface" when
plugged into the module.
Open up a command window (CMD) and Ping IP address 192.168.111.1
If you have been using the USB cable to connect to multiple modules over a short period of time such as doing an initial bench
configuration the PC maybe holding a previous connected module in its Cache. Try to clear the PC cache by trying the options
below.
Wait 10 – 15 minutes for PC to clear unused cache
Connect to module via Device Configuration utility selecting USB connection
Disable / Disconnect other Network connections (Wi-Fi, LAN)
Restart PC
ARP Cache cannot be cleared manually (arp –d) when USB connectivity is not responding.
LAN Connectivity
I can ping the LAN IP address of the module but cannot open the web page or program via Ethernet using
Device Configuration utility
By default, the internal webserver which is used for configuration is disabled. This is part of a Cyber Security requirements for
enhancing the modules protection.
When the internal WEB Server is disabled you can still Ping the modules IP address and still perform pass through
Ethernet to Ethernet Connectivity if configured to do so as these functions are not utilizing the internal port for
the modules webserver.
Use the supplied USB cable to connect and enable the Remote WEB Server Access on the Quick Start page if this
is required. Note: All configuration can be performed using USB cable.
How do I enable the internal Web server so I can configure and diagnose over Ethernet?
For the 415U-2 and 415U-E Modules use the Device Configuration utility configuration program and after adding
new modules to the project select the "Remote Access" check box as shown, set up LAN IP address then program
module via USB to download changes.

  • Page 2 This page also gives you the option to select the Legacy IP comms by selecting the “here” link from the last bulleted note. This will allow you to see the Raw IP data frames and you can get some useful info from these, i.e. this shows an Elpro mapping from IP address 192.168.17.81 to 192.168.17.80 with a value of 11111111 indicating an ON state.
  • Page 3 Sending of beacons and management frames. With the Condor series being IP based radios, consideration needs to be applied when deploying these radios, to not overload the radio. High utilisation can typically come about from unnecessary traffic or too much traffic being sent across the radios.
  • Page 4 Diagnostics Can you recommend the best registers for diagnosing my radio network? The Condor series radios can display diagnostic information on its internal dashboard page or have it available as Modbus or DNP3 data points for SCADA/ PLC’s to read.
  • Page 5 Yes, you can use the 2 x DIO on the 415U-E as change of state I/O. This is a more cost-effective solution if just requiring a single I/O bi-directional radio compared to the 415U-2 modules. Configuration of the I/O is performed in the Device Configuration utility like the 415U-2 modules. Condor Series Tips & Tricks_1.2.docx 5 of 5...
