Fender HAMMERTONE DELAY Manual

INTRODUCTION

Hammertone Delay— a versatile delay effect that adds dimension and atmospherics to your sound.

Enter a world of ringing delay possibilities with time, feedback and level controls. Use the Type switch to choose among digital and analog delay sounds, and use the Mod switch to toggle modulation on and off. Delay is an essential element in the arsenal of any modern guitarist, and the Hammertone Delay puts this shimmering sound at your feet in every shade from subtle to striking.

DEVICE OVERVIEW

DEVICE OVERVIEW

OUTPUT JACK
Low-impedance output connects to amp or next pedal in signal chain.

INPUT JACK
High-impedance input for electric guitar, bass, acoustic guitars with pickup systems, keyboards and other instruments.

DC POWER CONNECTOR
Connect DC adapter here. Standard center-negative 9VDC jack for use with appropriate power supplies.

TIME CONTROL KNOB
Adjusts delay time up to a maximum of one second.

FEEDBACK CONTROL KNOB
Adjusts volume of signal repeats. At maximum setting, repeats will continue to increase in volume instead of naturally fading out, and will eventually become loud enough to cause a pleasing distortion.

LEVEL CONTROL KNOB
Adjusts volume of delay repeats from completely dry (no delay signal) to unity (equal volume for wet and dry signals).

TYPE SWITCH
Three-position switch for Digital delay sound (up), darker Analog 1 delay sound (middle) and more midrange-sounding Analog 2 (down).

MOD SWITCH
Activates adjustable modulation effect on signal repeats.

LED
Illuminates when effect is on.

FOOTSWITCH
Turns effect on and off.

INTERNAL TRIM POTENTIOMETERS

(ACCESSIBLE BY REMOVING COVER)

SPEED trim pot adjusts modulation rate when MOD SWITCH is active.

DEPTH trim pot adjusts modulation depth when MOD SWITCH is active.

Remove cover using a flat-head screwdriver. Adjust trim pots using a Phillips-head screwdriver.

Try temporarily dialing in a short delay time when adjusting the modulation controls. The amount of modulation will remain consistent for short and long delays, but the modulation delay is ahead of the main delay, and with a long delay time dialed in the trim controls can feel sluggish.
