This product is designed to measure indoor carbon dioxide
concentration ("CO
level"), temperature, and humidity to
2
serve as a reference to observe the necessity of ventilation.
Do not use it for other purposes. Read this manual
thoroughly before use, and keep it for future reference.
Important Notices
Beware of Explosion
SK-40CTH is not explosion-proof. Never use it in an
atmosphere with flammable gases.
Cautions Related to Magnets
As the wall mount attachment included in the kit contains
magnets, do not place it near the followings:
people
with
implanted
cardiac
pacemakers
electronic devices or electronic medical devices
materials vulnerable to magnetic fields such as IC cards
Cautions
To use SK-40CTH properly, be aware of the followings.
Use the device only in the normal atmosphere within the
measurable range.
Do not wet the device. It is not waterproof.
If the device gets condensed with moisture, turn the power
off immediately and dry it naturally under room
temperature before use.
Do not drop or give a shock to the device, as it is a
sensitive instrument.
To store or transport the device, use packing materials
which are originally contained when you purchase it. Using
bubble buffers, plastic bags, or antistatic bags which have
a distinctive color such as blue or pink in general, may
damage the membranes of the humidity sensor.
Dusty environment damages the CO
sensors.
Do not disassemble or customize the device.
Do not leave the device in a place like an automobile on a
fine summer day, or the extreme heat may damage it.
Do not use the device under direct sunlight or aside a heat
source, or it may lead to a deformation or malfunction.
Electrical noise may worsen the stability and accuracy of
measurement.
If the device becomes dirty, wipe it with a tightly-wrung
towel dipped in warm water with neutral detergent. Do not
wash or wipe the device with alcohol, thinner, or any
organic solvents.

Overview of CO
CO
level stands for density of CO
2
and is expressed in units of ppm (parts per million). The
global average CO
estimated to be few tens of ppm higher in urbanized areas.
Each breath exhaled from a person contains around 10000
ppm of CO
general. If the level exceeds approximately 30000 ppm, it
can be harmful to life.

The risk of occurrence of a cluster of infection disease arises
in closed, poorly ventilated spaces. Measurement of CO
level is thus an effective method to discover bad ventilation.
The World Health Organization recommends that the indoor
CO
level should not exceed 1000 ppm, and many

governments such as those of the USA and Japan issue the
same level of regulations. For a detail safety standard, refer
to a guideline instructed by your local authorities.
