    1. Introduction 1.1. Main features of the transmitter The transmitter is equipped with an output control joystick, which exactly reproduces the functions of the original Mercury JPO joystick. On the transmitter are also present the following control buttons: Power On-Off / Engage Bow and Stern thrusters.

    For your safety do not try to open the transmitter or remove the battery. These operations may cause damages to the battery and to the transmitter, cause injuries and make the transmitter unsafe. In case of failures and malfunctions contact an authorized Yacht Controller dealer. ATTENTION: It is necessary to do a full recharge of the transmitter at least once a month.

    • The transmitter must always be secured outside the range of children on board. • Do not use Optimo if the transmitter has been immersed in the water (see also the paragraph dedicated to the maintenance). • During the use, pay the maximum attention that the bow of the boat reproduced on the face of the transmitter, always coincides in direction with the bow of the boat.

    If the system emits a long acoustic signal followed by short acoustic signals, an anomaly condition exists which prevents Optimo from operating (for example, control heads off). In this case, Optimo cannot be used. The table with the explanation of the possible alarms is shown at the end of this chapter.

    3.3. Deactivation procedure • To regain control from the control station where the Optimo receiver is connected to the Mercury JPO Joystick, move the right control head lever slightly, then immediately return it to the neutral position. To regain control from another station, however, follow the usual procedure with the levers in the neutral position.

    4. Use of the transmitter DANGER: The use of the Optimo system is reserved to adults with of a boat license and equipped with all the necessary requirements to drive a vessel. DANGER: IT IS ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL LEVERS REMAIN IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION DURING THE USE Optimo.

    4.2 Exclusive activation of the bow/stern thrusters IMPORTANT: These buttons (see picture 1, buttons 6 7 8 e 9) are always active to allow small and quick variations without the delay of the engines. To activate the right bow thruster excluding the engines, keep pressed button 6.

    To enable this function, press the transmitter “S” button. When the “Speed Adjust” function is active, the green LED next to the “S” button is on. When the Optimo transmitter is turned on, the “Speed Adjust” function is disabled for safety. To reactivate it, push the transmitter “S” button.

    4.5. Hold function Move the boat sideways using only bow and stern thrusters, in order to keep the boat close to the dock so that even a single person can easily manage the mooring maneuver. IMPORTANT: This function can only be used on boats equipped with proportional bow and stern thrusters.

    If the battery gets completely exhausted, it will be necessary to replace it at the Yacht Controller laboratories. IMPORTANT: In case of non-compliance with the rules of use, the battery replacement WILL NOT BE COVERED BY WARRANTY.

    If the transmitter is turned on when it falls into the water, it may have irrevocable damage. Before using it again TEST IT COMPLETELY TIED UP AT DOCKSIDE OR IN A SECURE AREA.
