Controls/Functions
Temperature Control Dial
Sets the temperature to desired heat. Turn the dial to (
) to power the hot plate off.
Temperature Guide
Setting | Recommended Use |
1 (Warm) | Keeps cooked foods at ideal serving temperatures. |
2 - 3 (Low) | Simmer, stew, slow cook, poach, braise, and efficiently cook other foods that can otherwise burn or scorch easily such as cream-based sauces, delicate meats, seafood. |
3 - 4 (Medium) | Pan-fry or deep fry foods like large cuts of meat, vegetables, fritters, and pancakes. |
5 (High) | High-heat sauté, stir-fry, bring liquids to a boil or steam dumplings and vegetables. |
Before First Use
- Read all instructions and important safeguards.
- Remove all packaging materials and check that the item has been received in good condition.
- Place the hot plate on a dry, flat, heat-resistant surface and plug the power cord into an available 120V AC wall outlet.
- Turn the temperature control dial to HIGH (without any cookware on atop the hot plate).
- Allow the plate to heat for about 15 minutes to burn off any residue left from the manufacturing process.
- Once the smoke and odor has ceased, turn the hot plate off by turning the temperature control dial to the (
) position then unplug the power cord. The hot plate is now ready for use.
To Clean
- Turn the temperature control dial to OFF then remove the plug from the wall outlet.
- Allow the unit to completely cool.
- Wipe the hot plate body with a damp cloth and non-abrasive household detergent.
- Clean the heating element surface with household cleaning powder then wipe clean with a damp cloth.
- Dry all parts thoroughly before next use.
Using the hot plate
- Place the cookware to be used onto the heating element.
- Plug the power cord into an available 120V AC wall outlet and turn the temperature control knob to the desired heat setting.
- Cook food as instructed by the recipe.
- After finished cooking, power the hot plate off by turning the temperature control knob to the (
) position then unplug the power cord.

- Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners.
- Do not immerse any part of the appliance or power cord in water or any other liquid.
- Do not operate the hot plate without cookware atop the heating element, unless you are following the initial cleaning instructions in "Before First Use".
- Always wait for the heating element to cool completely before cleaning or storing.
- Never heat food directly on the hot plate as doing so will pose a risk of fire or electric shock.
- Do not touch the heating element or the body of the hot plate while in operation as it will be extremely hot.
Note:
- Any other servicing should be performed by Aroma® Housewares.
- Due to the manufacturing process, it is normal for smoke and odors to be emitted during the first use.
Helpful Hints:
For best results, we recommend only using cookware with flat bases and diameters between 6½-7 inches and a maximum capacity of 1½ quarts.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Basic safety precautions should always be followed when using electrical appliances, including the following:

Read all instructions carefully before first use. - Do not touch hot surfaces. Use the handles or knobs.
- To protect against electrical shock, fire, and injury to persons, do not immerse the power cord, plug or the appliance itself in water or any other liquid. See instructions for cleaning.
- Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used by or near children. This appliance is not intended for use by children.
- Prior to plugging the appliance into a wall outlet, ensure the temperature control dial is turned to the (
) position. To disconnect completely, set temperature control dial to (
) then unplug the power cord. - Unplug the hot plate from the wall outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Always allow the unit to cool completely before cleaning the appliance.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged power cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Contact Aroma® customer service for examination, repair or adjustment.
- Using attachments or accessories other than those supplied by Aroma Housewares can create a hazard. Do not use incompatible parts.
- Do not allow the power cord to hang over the edge of a table or counter, or touch any hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot burner or in a heated oven.
- Do not use the appliance for other than its intended use.
- Do not clean with metal scouring pads as they may damage the steel finish. Pieces may also break off the pad and damage electrical parts, creating a risk of electrical shock.
- When in use, keep the hot plate a minimum of 10-12 inches away from walls, curtains or draperies. Always use on a dry, stable, heat-resistant surface and in a well-ventilated area.
- Do not place any flammable materials such as paper, cardboard, or plastic in or on the hot plate.
- To lengthen the hot plate's lifespan, avoid dropping or spilling any food on the heating element.
- Always unplug the power cord from the plug gripping area. Never pull on the cord.
- If the electric circuit in use is overloaded with other appliances, this appliance may not operate properly The appliance should be operated on a separate electrical circuit from other operating appliances.
- Clean the appliance regularly, as a build-up of grease poses a fire hazard.
- Do not attempt to move the appliance with cookware placed on top or while the hot plate is heating.
- Do not plug in the power cord or operate the appliance with wet hands.
- Intended for countertop use only.
- Do not use outdoor.
- A fire may occur if the hot plate is covered or touching flammable materials, such as curtains, draperies, walls, and the like, while in operation.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Short Cord Instructions
- A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
- Longer extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
- If a longer detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used:
- The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.
- The extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.

Polarized Plug
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other); follow the instructions below:
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
