Features

Setting up the Car Kit

- Clean the back of the receiver unit and the position in your car where you want to install the receiver.
- Peel one side of the adhesive disc and place on back of the receiver unit. Peel other side of adhesive disc and place the receiver in ideal position in the car.
- Plug the car kit's 3.5mm cable into the AUX input audio jack on the car stereo. Adjust your car stereo's settings to AUX input.
- Plug the car power adapter into the car.
Operation
Turning BTC450 On and Off
The BTC450 car kit will automatically power on when the car is switched on and in most vehicles will power off when the vehicle is switched off.
NOTE: In some vehicles, power is supplied to the 12V accessory port even after the vehicle is off and the key has been removed. In such cases, the BTC450 will continue to consume minimal power. Users may unplug the cigarette lighter plug manually to avoid any power drain at all.
Adjusting Volume
Use car stereo controls to adjust volume levels.
Bluetooth Pairing to One (or First) Device
- The BTC450 Car kit will automatically enter pairing mode when powered on for the first time. If it does not enter pairing mode automatically, press and hold the multifunction button for 8 seconds. The LED will begin to alternately flash red and blue.
NOTE: If pairing is not completed within two minutes, pairing mode will time out on the BTC450. Follow the instruction in Step 1 above to enter pairing mode manually. - Activate the Bluetooth function on the device that you wish to connect, then search for and pair to the BTC450.
- For iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch
Navigate to Settings > Bluetooth (On), then select the Kinivo BTC450 to pair the car kit. - For Android smartphones and tablets
Navigate to Settings > Bluetooth (On), then select Scan for devices. Select the Kinivo BTC450 to pair the car kit. - For all other devices
Please follow your devices' instructions on how to perform Bluetooth pairing. - If asked for a PIN or Passcode, enter "0000" (four zeros).
- After the initial setup is complete, the BTC450 will automatically reconnect to your device when it is powered on and your device is in range.
Bluetooth Pairing to Second Device (Multipoint)
The Kinivo BTC450 supports Bluetooth Multipoint and can be connected with two devices at the same time. Once you have successfully paired your first Bluetooth device with the BTC450, follow the steps below to pair a second device.
- Enter pairing mode on the BTC450 by pressing and holding the multifunction button for 8 seconds. The LED will begin to alternately flash red and blue.
- Activate Bluetooth on the second device, then search for and pair to the BTC450.
- Power cycle the BTC450 (unplug and re-plug the cigarette lighter plug) - it should now connect to both devices.
Charging USB Devices
Simply connect the USB charging cable (not included) of your mobile device to the USB port on the car kit power adapter.

Factory Reset

Performing a factory reset on the BTC450 will delete any previous pairings and will restore the unit to factory default settings. Only perform this if you are experiencing any issues with the product.
- Press and hold the previous and next song buttons simultaneously for 5 to 7 seconds.
- The BTC450 will make two audible beeps and the LED will blink twice.
- The next time the BTC450 is powered on, it will automatically enter pairing mode.
Note: After factory reset, you will need to remove the previous BTC450 pairing from your Bluetooth device and repeat the pairing process.
Troubleshooting
- Unable to pair to device / Device no longer connects to BTC450
Ensure that the BTC450 car kit is in pairing mode by pressing and holding the multifunction button for 8 seconds (alternating blinking red and blue LED). Now open the Bluetooth configuration on the device you are trying to pair and scan for Bluetooth devices. You should see the BTC450 - proceed to pair and connect the car kit.
Please refer to the Operation section for Bluetooth Pairing. - No audio when playing music or when using phone
Please make sure of all of the following: - Check if the Bluetooth connection between your phone (or other Bluetooth capable device) and the BTC450 is active.
- Ensure that the car kit's 3.5mm is plugged into the AUX port on your car stereo.
- Make sure the that the input setting on the car stereo is set to AUX input.
- Adjust the car stereo volume and phone volume.

- Audio from my connected device sounds choppy after the BTC450 is powered on
The BTC450 has a Multipoint feature that automatically connects to two devices via Bluetooth. Multipoint will search for the second device within 30 seconds of being powered on and may cause the audio to be choppy momentarily. This issue will resolve itself after the devices have successfully connected.

- How many Bluetooth connections will the BTC450 car kit remember?
The BTC450 will remember up to four previous Bluetooth connections and it can connect to up to 2 devices simultaneously (Multipoint). - Why do I hear an electrical humming noise in my car while using BTC450?
Some cars have an electrical humming noise that is caused by the electrical system of the cars. To eliminate the noise, we recommend that you use a 3.5mm ground loop isolator. - Why does the audio from my connected device sound choppy after BTC450 is powered on (for the first 30 seconds).
The BTC450 has a Multipoint feature that automatically connects to 2 devices via Bluetooth. This feature will search roughly within 30 sec for the 2nd device if a 2nd device has been paired/connected on this unit. The choppy audio is the result of this search operation. You should experience regular audio beyond the first 30 seconds (once the search is completed). - How to factory reset the unit?
Simultaneously hold the next and previous song buttons for about 5 sec. You'll hear 2 tone and 2 LED blink - meaning the unit has been reset. - Help! I'm unable to use to the car kit. What should I do?
