Troubleshooting

Operational difficulties may be improved
by restoring the initial settings on the
[SETUP] menu. Select [RESET] on the
SETUP menu and reset the Setup
parameters.
1:
The camera is not turned on.
1-1: Are the batteries inserted or the
AC adaptor (optional, DMW-AC1)
correctly connected? Check the
connection.
1-2: Are the batteries sufficiently
charged? Use sufficiently charged
batteries (when using Ni-MH
batteries). Replace them with new
batteries (when using Alkaline
batteries).
2:
As the power is turned on, it turns
off immediately.
2-1: Is the battery power sufficient to
operate the camera? Charge the
batteries (when using Ni-MH
batteries). Replace them with new
batteries (when using Alkaline
batteries).
2-2: Are the batteries other than the
recommended ones?
2-3: The remaining battery life of the
Nickel Manganese battery cannot
be correctly displayed because of
its characteristics.
2-4: If you press the shutter button
halfway without enough power
remaining on the batteries, the
camera may be turned off. This is
a feature which helps to avoid
abnormal recordings due to
insufficient battery power, not a
malfunction. Replace the
batteries.
2-5: The Power Save is set before
shipment. Therefore, the camera
is turned off in 2 minutes if you do
not operate it. This is not a
Others
malfunction. You can select it on
the setup menu.
3:
The brightness of the screen
becomes dark or bright for a
moment.
3:
This phenomenon appears when
pressing the shutter button
halfway to set the aperture value
and does not affect the recorded
pictures.
4:
The picture cannot be recorded.
4-1: Is the card inserted?
4-2: Is the mode dial correctly set?
Check it.
4-3: There is no memory capacity left
on the card. Before recording,
delete some pictures.
5:
The picture is not displayed on
the LCD monitor. (The power
indicator is lit.)
5-1: Is the LCD monitor set to OFF?
5-2: Does the economy mode work?
5-3: Is the built-in flash charging?
6:
The LCD monitor is too bright
or dark.
6:
Adjust the brightness of the LCD
monitor.
7:
Flash does not light.
7:
The flash mode is set to forced
OFF. Change the flash mode.
8:
The focus range depends on
recording mode.
8-1: Set the mode dial to the mode
corresponding to the distance to
the subject.
8-2: Set the [AF TRIGGER] to
[
SHUTTER
9:
The picture is not played back.
9-1: Is the card inserted?
9-2: Is there a picture in the card?
9-3: Is the mode dial set to playback
