    The Knox eKey® is a battery-operated electronic master key that is used to open and administer KnoxBox products that are equipped with an eLock core. There are two types of eKey: a black key (used for standard functions) and a gray Control Key (used to install KnoxLock SFIC cores).

  • Page 6: Programming The Knox Ekey

    Prior to use, a user with Device Administrator privileges or higher must program an eKey with a list of lock codes that it is authorized to open. An eKey can store up to 100 lock codes and the list is managed in KnoxConnect.

    Fully charging the eKey can take up to eight (8) hours if the battery is dead. eKeys must be charged for a minimum of eight (8) hours every six (6) months and charging events are logged in KnoxConnect.

    5. If the eKey is also configured to gather audit history from the lock, wait until the eKey flashes green to remove from the eLock. 6. If the eKey is configured to only gather audit history, follow steps 1 and 2, then hold the eKey in place until the eKey flashed green and remove it from the eLock.
