    Also, this model can be used for the measurement (the approximation with a similar figure of approximate 1/8.3) approximating to the measurement method of the durometer hardness type A/E (AO) [JIS K 6253/ISO7619], E2/F0 [TECLOCK standard] and OO [ASTM/D2240]. Additionally, this can measure with any setting fluctuating load value.
  • Page 8 Settable to a different value from the values in the HD S1 mode and HDS2 mode.  By connecting a dedicated potable printer to the main unit directly, the measured data can be printed out.  As for the software By installing the accessory software (GS-680 PC Application) in your PC, all of the operations are controllable from the PC side.

    Operating procedure of Main unit This chapter describes the operating procedure for the measurement using this model solely. For the procedure using with the PC connected, refer to “Operating procedure for Software” (P.20). Preparation for Main unit Remove all of the packaging materials. Mount the measurement table onto the main unit.
  • Page 12: Measuring Procedure

    Measuring procedure This chapter describes the measuring procedure. Turn the power of main unit ON. The LCD lights up to indicate the measurable condition.  An error (ERR11) is indicated when the power is turned on if the plunger is located at the most top end.
  • Page 13 Press the [START/STOP] button to start the measurement. The lamp of [START/STOP] button lights up during the measurement. The lamp goes out and the measurement result is indicated on the LCD panel when the measurement is completed. It ends at that time if the number of measurement(s) is one time.

    Measuring modes This model has other measuring modes, which can change the measuring conditions, than the hardness measurement (the setting at shipping) in compliance with the IRHD M-method. The measuring mode is selectable from the following 7 modes. Measuring mode Description IRHD Measuring mode in compliance with the IRHD M-method.
  • Page 15 Changing procedure of measuring mode The measuring mode is changeable by pressing the [MODE] button on the operation panel. The mode is changed in the following order, and returns to the IRHD mode following the HDS3 mode.    ...
  • Page 16 Set the Major load time (sec) with the [UP] / [DOWN] button then the [SET] button. Set the Major load time within 1-999sec/0 (Limitless). After the set is fixed, it enters in the condition that the - NG (Lower limit judgment value) can be set.
  • Page 17 Set the Creep judgment Hardness value with the [UP] / [DOWN] button then the [SET] button. Set the Creep judgment Hardness value within 0.1-9.9. When the set is fixed, it enters in the condition that the Creep judgment Time value can be set. Set the Creep judgment Time value with the [UP] / [DOWN] button then the [SET] button.

    Set the - NG value within 30.0-100.0. “NG” is judged and an error (-NG) occurs if the measured value is less that this value. When the set is fixed, it enters in the condition that the + NG (Upper limit judgment value) can be set.

    Error clearing When an error occurs due to some reason, the indications on the LCD turn red. The error code corresponding to the error is displayed on the LCD and the measurement operation is stopped. Eliminate the cause of error, and then press the [DIPS/ERR-CLR] button. If the cause of error is successfully eliminated, the error condition is cleared and it in the measurable condition.

    Measured data printing This model has a feature to print out the measured data by connecting to the following printer with a serial interface in compliance with RS-232C. Connectable printer Connecting cable CITIZEN : CBM-910 II Separate option : ZE-118(cable for printer connection) RS-232C Communication mode In order to print out the measured data with the printer, the communication setting is required to be set for the RS-232C.
  • Page 21 Select ON/OFF of plunger error with the [UP] / [DOWN] button then the [SET] button. When “PS on” is selected, a plunger error gets effective. For the measurement of conductive rubber or the like, select “PS off” to make the plunger error ineffective. After the setting is completed, it returns to the original display.

    Measured data saving The measured data can be saved with a name. The saved data can be opened by using “GS-680 PC application” and updated by adding the measured data.     PC logging The latest measured data, which has been recorded in the internal memory of this product, is read in automatically, and then saved in the PC as a CSV formatted file.
