5240-058 To check the tension, pluck the chain anywhere halfway along the bar. The clearance between the underside of the chain and the bar should be 1/8"-5/32" (3-4mm) (Fig. 9). Chain saw oil is recommended as a lubricant. To prevent blocking the chain oil feeding tip, this operation requires extreme care to prevent the ingress of dirt of any kind.
