FIELD TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE FOR iN3/iNS3/iDS3 BUTTONS
The following information is meant to help field techs quickly and correctly diagnose operational issues with
our 3-Wire APS button. We suggest you follow the provided steps to rectify any of the below issues. If you
have questions or need technical help between the hours of 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM CST, we highly recommend
you contact our Tech Support department at 888-340-4872, while you are at the intersection. To RMA a button
please contact our Tech Support department, or your local Distributor representative for a return ticket number.
If you are working on a unit outside of our Tech Support hours and cannot correct the issue by following the
below steps, try a spare unit to see if it corrects the issue. However, it is very important that you document the
intersection and pole location, symptoms, steps taken, and attach those notes to the unit, to help us diagnose
the issue(s). As soon as possible during Tech Support hours call and get a ticket number, and write the ticket
number on the paper attached to the unit, so we can easily identify the unit.
Note:
To make the voltage measurements referenced below, a good quality Digital Multi-meter is
required.
Upon arriving at an intersection, observe the status of the LED lights on each button. Without anyone having
pushed any of the buttons, observe and note:
•
Is any units' LED on constantly, or flashing?
•
If no LEDs are on or flashing, push each button, verify its LED turns on, and turns off after the WALK phase.
•
If an LED is on constantly, push the button and watch through the walk cycle to see if it turns off during WALK,
and then immediately turns back on when the crosswalk goes into CLEARANCE. If it does, it indicates a
