    NOTES ON THE INSTRUCTIONS 2.3 User and safety instructions The user and safety instructions in this manual have a standardised structure and are marked with a symbol on the left-hand side of the instructions. If several hazard levels occur, the safety instruction for the highest level is always used.

    The type designation can be found on the packaging or on the back of the control board. The type plates indicate the version status of the ZS-SMART control unit and can be traced back using the serial number. If you have any questions about the product, please have this information to hand.

    The ZS-SMART control unit is designed for flush-mounted installation. It is suitable for controlling Ventomaxx ventilation systems with heat recovery and is used for the continuous ventilation of dust-free and dry interior spaces under normal climatic conditions.     Depending on requirements, the ZS-SMART is available in the two design variants ZS-SMART UP with connection of 2 or 4 and 2-8 fan units using the paired connection method. When connecting more than 4 fans, the ZS-SMART is connected via a separate power supply unit and a connection unit in the sub- distribution board.

    3.2.2 Operating/display elements The ZS-SMART is operated and interfaces are configured via the control panel on the front of the control unit. It consists of pushbuttons and various indicator LEDs. Operation and configuration are carried out by pressing the various buttons or button combinations.

    DESCRIPTION OF THE PRODUCT 3.3 Interfaces The ZS-SMART offers the option of extending the range of functions via external interfaces. 3.3.1 Interface for connecting sensors The external interface is a bifunctional interface for connecting sensors with potential-free switching contacts. A hygro sensor or a combined CO and hygro sensor are optionally available as accessories.

    3.3.1.2 Interface configuration Once the sensors have been successfully assigned (chapter 3.3.1.1), they are configured and registered directly on the ZS-SMART control panel via the configuration menu. 1. Switch on the control unit by pressing the ON/OFF button 2. Open the configuration menu by pressing the ON/OFF button and the air level selector button simultaneously (>5 seconds)

    To equalise the exhaust air volume flows, the air stages of the fans connected to the ZS-SMART (in supply air mode) are adjusted and automatically switch one air stage higher. When the external devices are deactivated (e.g. switching off the bathroom ventilation), the fans return to their original operation.

    All fans are connected to the ZS-SMART control unit in a star configuration. To ensure optimum functionality of the control unit, a maximum cable length of 40 m between the fan and the ZS-SMART must not be exceeded.

    +12V DC WARNING When using the ZS-NT power supply unit, it is essential that the mains voltage of the ZS-SMART and the ZS-NT power supply unit are supplied electrically from the same phase, as otherwise an impermissibly high voltage may be applied to the device, which could destroy it.

    • A 230V power connection via NYM-J 3x1.5 mm² / NYM-Y 4x1.5 mm² must be provided to supply power to the ZS-SMART central control unit. The fuse protection must be 6A. • Always use a J-Y(ST)Y 2x2x0.8 mm cable to connect the fan units to the ZS-SMART or to the connection unit (ZS-AE).

    When using the ZS-SMART UP for 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 fan units, the power supply unit and connection unit are mounted and connected on the top-hat rail in the sub-distribution board. The operating unit is mounted in a flush-mounted or cavity wall box and connected to the cables of the connection unit (ZS-AE) in the sub- distribution board using a connecting cable.

    6.2 Setting operating modes / programme selection NOTE To save energy, all LEDs on the ZS-SMART are also switched off during operation. All LEDs only light up during the operating status display, configuration or when settings are changed. If there is no activity on the control unit, the LEDs switch off automatically after approx.

    OPERATION Efficiency ventilation The ventilation cycle changes the air flow direction at intervals. The system operates in the preselected air stage. Heat recovery is active.     CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE The ZS-SMART control unit is virtually maintenance-free. Any cleaning work required can be carried out by the user after brief instruction. If necessary, the control unit can be cleaned with warm water and a commercially available detergent. We recommend using a lint-free, soft cloth or a soft brush.

    At the end of its service life or when the control unit and its components are replaced, they must be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. Dismantle the ZS-SMART in reverse assembly sequence. Dispose of the product in accordance with the applicable national regulations.
