Drain installation LEVELING THE DEHUMIDIFIER FIGURE 19-1: LEVEL THE UNIT The feet can be adjusted to level the unit and accommodate drain fittings and condensate pans as required (see Figure 19-1). The unit must be level from front to back and side to side to ensure proper drainage from the dehumidifier. If installing a condensate pump (see Figure 20-1) to the side of the unit 0.38"...
Page 20
Drain installation INSTALLING THE CONDENSATE PUMP • The condensate pump is capable of lifting water up to 22 feet (see Figure 20-1). • The dehumidifier can be elevated (while remaining level) to increase downward slope for proper draining. • Wire the float switch terminals to the normally closed contacts on the condensate pump (see Figure 22-2).
Ductwork installation: MODELS RL-3 AND RL-4 Add ductwork to the inlet and outlet of the dehumidifier to ensure dehumidified air is circulated throughout the crawl space and reduce the noise level of the dehumidifier. Point the inlet and outlet ducts in opposite directions to minimize recirculation of dehumidified air.
Wiring: Model RL-3 No additional wiring is needed unless: FIGURE 22-1: WIRING ACCESS COVER LOCATION • a separate, remote control such as a dehumidistat is to be used • a float switch, either integral to a condensate pump or mounted to the condensate pan, is used Use 18-22 AWG wire for any needed wiring.

Wiring: Models RL-4 and RL-6 FIGURE 24-1: WIRING TO AN EXTERNAL OR REMOTE CONTROL WIRING TO EXTERNAL OR REMOTE CONTROL The dehumidifier can be wired to an external control that senses the humidity in the living space, such as a thermostat or the Model D77 Dehumidifier Control.
System set-up & checkout INSTALLER TEST MODE FIGURE 25-1: DISPLAY SCREEN OFF After wiring the power, the dehumidifier and all of the wired components will turn on and off during Installer Test Mode to demonstrate that all are properly operating. Installer Test Mode lasts for four (4) minutes. If the ON/OFF button is pressed during test mode, the dehumidifier will exit Installer Test Mode and return to the OFF screen.

Wiring and setup of the D77 controller The Model D77 will measure the relative humidity and turn the dehumidifier on and off to control the humidity level to the desired setting. The humidity setting can be adjusted from the control, while the display allows easy access and monitoring of the humidity level in the space.
Page 28
Wiring and setup of the D77 controller TO SET THE DEHUMIDIFIER TO USE THE MODEL D77 CONTROL, COMPLETE ALL STEPS: 1. With power to the dehumidifier, use the ON/OFF button to set the dehumidifier to the OFF position. NOTE: If the display backlight is not on, the first button press (any button) will only turn the backlight on.
Alternative external control or DriSteem BACnet humidistat ® The DriSteem BACnet humidistat may be used to control TO SET THE DEHUMIDIFIER TO USE THE ALTERNATIVE CONTROL, COMPLETE ALL STEPS: the dehumidifier when set up as an external controller. 1. With power to the dehumidifier, use the ON/OFF Alternatively, use any other humidity control system as long button to set the dehumidifier to the OFF position.
Daisy chain wiring DriSteem dehumidifiers can be wired in a daisy chain application, allowing one Model D77 or alternate dry contact humidistat to control any number of dehumidifiers wired together. MODEL D77 AS DRIVING CONTROL When a Model D77 is used to control the first dehumidifier, Unit #1 must be set to Remote Enabled in the set-up menu.

Daisy chain wiring ALTERNATE EXTERNAL OR DRISTEEM BACNET HUMIDISTAT DRY CONTACT CONTROL AS DRIVING CONTROL When a dry contact control is used to control the first dehumidifier, Unit #1 must be set to External Enabled in the set-up menu. All downstream units must be set up to External Enabled in each set-up menu.
Starting up the unit Ensure unit is plugged in and if equipped use the ON/OFF power switch near the power cord to apply power to the dehumidifier. USING THE DEHUMIDIFIER CONTROL ONLY 1. Press the ON/OFF button to turn the dehumidifier control ON. The display will show the current humidity setting, and the dehumidifier blower and HVAC blower (if wired to the HVAC system) will turn on to start sampling.

Cleaning the drain: Model RL-4 DRAIN AND DRAIN INSERT INSPECTION CAUTION The drain and drain insert should be checked annually to ensure there are no blockages or air lock in the drain Do not use spray solvents or cleaners on or near the inlet side of the system.
Cleaning the drain: Models RL-3 and RL-6 CLEANING THE DRAIN FIGURE 37-1: CAPPED DRAIN ACCESS FOR CLEANING 1. With the filter door on the drain side of the dehumidifier removed, clean the accessible portion of the drain pan using a mild detergent. 2.
Replacing the filter After initial installation, the air filter and drain should be checked and replaced FIGURE 38-1: CLEAN FILTER SERVICE REMINDER every 3 months. 1. Press the ON/OFF button on the user interface to turn the unit OFF. 2. Loosen the retaining screw on the filter access door (see page 8)/ snap-on filter access door from the drain side of the dehumidifier until it releases and then remove the filter door.
If an Alert Light (part # 601176) is used, the light will turn on when an error occurs. The Alert Light output can also be wired to the DriSteem BACnet humidistat so that the BACnet humidistat displays a generic alarm when any error code is active.
