Pocket Hole Jig, Drill Bit, Driving Bit, Hex Key and Collet
DRILLING POCKET HOLES
See Figures 2 - 4.
This product is designed to help you quickly and accurately drill pocket
holes in workpieces that are no greater than 1-1/2 in. thick.
 Place the jig near the edge of the workpiece and position it according
to the thickness of the material. For 1/2 in. workpieces, the jig should
have a 1/4 in. overhang. For 3/4 in. workpieces, the jig should be flush
with the edge. For 1-1/2 in. workpieces, the jig should be 1-1/4 in. away
from the edge. If the workpiece is a different size, use scrap material to
determine the required positioning.
 Secure the jig to the workpiece using clamps. Do not use your hands to
hold the jig and/ or workpiece.
 Clamp the workpiece to a stable surface so that the workpiece will not
move during operation. Do not use your hands to hold the jig and/ or
workpiece.
 Place the collet onto the drill bit and position it according to the thickness
of the material. For 1/2 in. workpieces, the collet should be in position 1.
For 3/4 in. workpieces, the collet should be in position 2. For 1-1/2 in.
workpieces, the collet should be in position 3. If the workpiece is a dif-
ferent size, use scrap material to determine the required positioning.
 Using the hex key provided, tighten and secure the collet to the bit.

 Install the bit into a drill or impact driver (not included).

 Set your drill or impact driver to a low speed setting and ensure that it
is set to rotate forward.
Pocket Hole Jig
NOTE: If the speed is too high, the jig and/ or workpiece could be dam-
aged or broken.
NOTE: If you are using a hammer drill, ensure that the tool is in "drill
mode". Using the tool in "hammer mode" could damage the jig and/or
the workpiece.
 Place the tip of the bit inside the jig and depress the switch trigger to
start the drill.
 Move the bit inside the jig and into the workpiece, applying only enough
pressure to keep the bit cutting. Do not force the drill. Let the tool do
the work.
 Stop drilling when the collet bottoms out on the jig.
 Repeat this process to drill additional pocket holes.
To make a pocket joint:
 Place the workpiece with the pocket holes against a second workpiece.
 Install screws with the driving bit to make a pocket joint. The size of the
screw required to make the joint will vary based on the thickness of the
material. For 1/2 in. workpieces, use 1 in. screws. For 3/4 in. workpieces,
use 1-1/4 in. screws. For 1-1/2 in. workpieces, use 2-1/2 in. screws.
