GENERAL MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION! Be extremely careful when handling
1.
the Knox Elevator Box prior to installation. When
not mounted, the door will be OPEN. Always hold
box and door securely to prevent door closing on
fingers and causing injury.
Tamper Alert: If your Knox Elevator Box has the
Tamper Alert feature, remove the Tamper Alert
assembly and set aside for installation after the box
is mounted.
Always mount your Knox Elevator Box to a secure
2.
solid wall. A six (6) foot height level is recommended
to resist vandalism. The Knox Elevator Box should
never be mounted with the door facing up or down.
Use a small level to plumb the box square.
3.
Use at least four (4) mounting fasteners (Grade 5 or
4.
equivalent bolts and nuts, etc.) 5/16" diameter.
WARNING! Do not mount box to an extremely rough or
uneven wall surface. This may distort the box and cause
the door to malfunction.
For proper security, bolts should go through a solid
5.
wall with large backup washers on the opposite side.
We strongly recommend that all Tamper Alert
6.
connections and adjustments be carried out by a
qualified alarm technician.
