System Recommendations Uninterruptible Power Supply Avigilon recommends the use of an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system to protect your video surveillance system hardware. A UPS system is used to protect critical equipment from mains supply problems, including spikes, voltage dips, fluctuations and complete power failures using a dedicated battery. It can also be used to power equipment during the time it takes for a standby generator to be started and synchronized.
Networking When locating where to install the AI NVR 2 Premium Plus Form H in a multi-server deployment, consider the following items: Before connecting the AI NVR 2 Premium Plus Form H, install the latest ACC Client software on the ACC Client PC.

NIC Teaming for Network Resiliency To further increase network resilience, it is recommended to use network interface controller (NIC) teaming with the AI NVR 2 Premium Plus Form H network connections. This can be set up using the Server Management page. The AI NVR 2 Premium Plus Form H supports three types of NIC teaming.
Setting Up the AI NVR 2 Premium Plus Form H Install the Shelf-Mount Adjustable Rail Kit If the recorder will be mounted in a server rack, install the Shelf-Mount Adjustable Rail Kit provided in the recorder package. Follow the procedures outlined in the Shelf-Mount Installation Instructions provided in the assembly kits. NOTE When shelf-mounting the recorder, ensure no interference occurs from the rail kit arms of adjacent equipment in the rack.
Connect the Cables and Power On Refer to the diagrams in the Overview section for the location of the different connectors. Make the following connections as required: 1. Connect the AI NVR 2 Premium Plus Form H to the network by plugging an Ethernet cable into one of the Ethernet ports.

Using Server Management Configure the AI NVR 2 Premium Plus Form H with Server Management, accessed from any ACC Client application or compatible browser on a workstation on the same network as the appliance. With Server Management you can configure the server settings. Start backing up the system settings for the appliance after you configure it.

Create NIC Teams The AI NVR 2 Premium Plus Form H supports three types of NIC teaming: Active Backup, Dynamic Link Aggregation (IEEE 802.3ad), and Adaptive Load Balancing. Decide on the teaming mode to use before creating any NIC teams. NIC Teaming Modes on page It is recommended to have teamed network ports in the same subnet.

Maintenance Updating Drivers, Software and Firmware As a best practice, Avigilon recommends that you install the latest firmware, drivers, and system software before using the server for the first time. Update your system with Intelligent Provisioning, which is accessible by pressing F10 during the server boot process.
1. If not done, connect a monitor to the recorder. 2. Press the UID button on the front of the recorder to display it. 3. Press the UID button again to close the summary. Replacing Hard Drives The hard disk drives (HDDs) on the AI NVR 2 Premium Plus Form H are set up in a RAID configuration. This allows information to be recorded across several HDDs. If an HDD fails there is enough information on the other HDDs for the recorder to continue recording video.

Drives must be the same capacity to provide the greatest storage space efficiency when drives are grouped together into the same drive array. WARNING To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the drives and the internal system components to cool before touching them.
Powering Down the Recorder NOTE Before powering down the recorder for any upgrade, recovery or maintenance, back up critical recorder data and programs. IMPORTANT When the recorder is in standby mode, auxiliary power is still being provided to the system. WARNING To reduce the risk of personal injury, electric shock or damage to the equipment, disconnect the power cord to remove power from the server.

Powering Down an AI NVR 2 Premium Plus Form H To perform a soft shutdown of the AI NVR 2 Premium Plus Form H, press the power button on the front panel of the appliance. Restarts caused by firmware updates always trigger soft shutdowns. Although soft shutdowns are recommended, hard shutdowns do not pose a risk of OS drive corruption.
