GENERAL
1.01
This section covers the COMM-STOR II
Communications Storage Unit manu-
factured by Sykes Dat.atronics, Incorporated, as
described in their section SYKS 578-400-500.
1.02
This section is reissued to provide informa-
tion on improved diagnostic test pro-
cedures (Part 5 ).
1.03
Testing and troubleshooting procedures
covering the COMM-STOR II Communica-
tions Storage Unit are cont.a.med in the attached
reprint of_ the practice prepared by Sykes Dat.a-
tronics, Incorporated. (No special equipment is
required for the procedures described in the
practice.)

This section does not apply to COMM-
STOR II units equipped for 8Al/8Bl pro-
tocol operation on COMM-STOR II/SMDR
(St.ation Message Detail Recording) units. Testing
and troubleshooting procedures for 8Al/8Bl units
are described in Sections 578-400-501 and -502 for
COMM-STOR II SMDR units.
1.05
An operation checkout should be
performed after installation or on trouble
calls. It may be a brief checkout to ensure that the
st.ation is operable or a complete checkout to
exercise all features and options. Since off-line
checkout procedures do not check the interface or
send and receive capabilities, an on-line checkout is
also
required to completely test the COMM-STOR
II unit. (See Section 668-140-500, "Remote Test
Procedures.")
