4 PREPARATION OF THE TRACTOR 4.1 Hydraulic asssembly The Solitair 9 KA and Solitair 9 SA are designed for the use in combination with LEMKEN semi-mounted soil cultivation implements Zirkon, Terradisc, Terratilth and Quarz. These soil cultivation implements are equipped with a connection bracket (25) with marked hose connections, to which the hydraulic hoses of the Solitair must be connected.
4.2 Electrical assembly For the on-board computer LH 5000, the seed wheel drive and the seed drill control an electric power of approximately 300 Watts with a supply voltage of 12 V is required. The on-board computer is connected directly to the battery of the tractor.
5 PREPARATION OF THE SOLITAIR – CHECK LIST Before first using the Solitair the following items must be checked. • Disc Coulters and pressure rollers The links (LO) and (LU) of the disc coulters should be positioned nearly horizontally in the working position.
Page 16
All other adjustments and warning functions can be used if required, see instruction book of the on-board computer LH 5000 from version Lemken 52.03 and higher. Solitair seed drills with electric motor fitted in front are equipped with the on-board...
6 POSSIBILITIES OF USE The Lemken Solitair 9 KA and Solitair 9 SA seed drills can be mounted directly to the semi-mounted implements Zirkon, Smaragd, Kompaktor and Quarz, if these implements are equipped with a braking system. In connection with a trailer, these seed drills can also be fitted to the three-point linkage of a tractor or a soil cultivation implement.
Therefore the pivots (14) will be locked by the pins (13). After that secure with pins (13) (with Solitair 9 KA, only). − Ensure that the left and right hand upper pins (21) and stops (22) are adjusted equally and secure.
− Connect hydraulic hose of the Track markers to a single acting spool valve. − Connect the hydraulic hoses of the folding coulter bar to a double acting spool valve (with Solitair 9 KA, only). − Finally connect the electric cable of the seed drill control and seed shaft electric drive to the on-board computer.
7 REAR GROUND WHEEL The rear drive wheel (18) must be swung- down before operation in the field, the impulse signals will be transmitted to the on-board computer LH 5000. See also the instruction book of the on-board computer LH 5000. By means of the stop bolts (AS) the drive wheel must be adjusted so that it will not be 5 cm deeper than the pressure rollers, with...
10 ADJUSTMENTS 10.1 Drilling depth With the two screws (20) the seeding depth is adjusted. It is important that both screws (20) are adjusted the same amount, in order to reach an even seeding depth. The scale (SK) serves as a guide to the current seeding depth.
If after the central coulter pressure adjustment the working position is too deep or too shallow, the link position must be corrected by means of each spring adjustment (24). Links are too deep in driving direction Õ Lengthen spring adjustment (24). Links are too shallow in driving direction Õ...
10.5 Seeding shaft The seeding shaft (SW) is equipped with 7 seed wheels for each dosage unit (34), with two fine seed wheels (FS), two narrow seed wheels (SS) and three wide seed wheels (BS). Between each seed wheel a separation plate (not shown) is provided. They ensure that each seed wheel works independently from each other.
Page 24
a) Switching on the seed wheels Switching on the seed wheels is done by means of screwing in the stop screw (MS). When screwing in the stop screws (MS) it must be ensured that they engage exactly in the groove (NU) of the seeding shaft axle (SA). Also the screws are within the seed wheel circumference and will not cause interference when rotating.

10.7 Slide plates During operation all slide plates (A) must be opened fully. If necessary the seed flow from the hopper to the metering units can be stopped by means of the slide plates (A). As an option the slide plates can be operated via an electrical motor from the tractor seat if required.
10.9 Emptying the hopper 10.9.1 Emptying flaps The hopper (15) can be emptied easily by means of opening the emptying flaps (40). The handles of the flaps can be found - seen from the rear - to the right under each dosage unit (34).
10.10 Cleaning the dosage units The dosage units (34) must be cleaned regularly, at least once a day with rape seed. Therefore the stop slides (A) must be closed, the calibration tray (41) set into position and the emptying flaps (40) opened. Remove protection covers (33) and open bottom flap shaft completely by means of the lever (HE) or (35).
10.13 Tramline mechanism By means of the tramline mechanism (FA) either 1x2, 2x2, 2x3 or 2x4 seeding rows will be closed, when tramlines are made. Via the on-board computer LH 5000 the rhythm and bout can be adjusted. See instruction book for the on-board computer LH 5000.
11 PARTLY WIDTH SWITCH OFF Depending on the working width of the Solitair 1 to 4 dosage units can be switched off by means of closing the slides plates (A). This can be done by hand or by means of the electric motor (EM). With the electric width switch off device, electric motors are provided above the slide plates (A).
12 SCRAPERS The double disc coulters (55) are equipped with self-adjustable scrapers (54). They must be replaced after wear. After wear the scrapers must be replaced. Each scraper is secured by a supporting plate and a spring pin. The cover (56) prevents clods and soil penetrating the inner disc area.
16 SENSORS controlling Solitair several sensors (71) are fitted. At the coulter bar lifting device (tramline switch), the fan, the drive wheel, the seeding shaft and the electric motor. The sensors have been adjusted at the factory. An adjustment correction must only be done, if with intact sensor a malfunction is found out.
17 FOLDING- IN AND -OUT OF THE COULTER BAR (with Solitair 9 KA, only) Hook (H) is unlocked Hook (H) is locked The seed drills Solitair 9 KA are equipped with hydraulically foldable coulter bars (12). Before folding-in, the locking pin (13) must be unsecured and removed.
18 TRACK MARKERS The Track markers (45) are folded-in and -out vertically by means of single acting hydraulic rams. The alternating action of the Track markers happens by means of an hydraulic switch valve. The Track markers are adjusted to the centre of the tractor at the factory.
19 ON-BOARD COMPUTER LH 5000 All adjustments of the seed drill monitoring are adjusted, regulated and controlled by the on-board computer. Warning! If the tractor with seed drill Solitair is parked, the on-board computer must be switched off, in order to avoid discharge of the battery.
