DTC4500/e/DTC1500 Cleaning Guide
This guide will show you how to correctly and thoroughly clean a HID Fargo DTC Card Printer.
For optimal printing results the printer should be cleaned each time the colour ribbon is changed.
To clean the printer, you will need a DTC Cleaning Kit #86177
From the cleaning kit you will need:
1.
An isopropyl alcohol soaked long cleaning card
2.
Adhesive cleaning card
3.
A printhead cleaning swab stick

  • Page 2: Step 1 - Preparing The Printer For Cleaning

    STEP 1 – Preparing the Printer for Cleaning Remove the ribbon cartridge and the cards from the input hopper. (Be sure to put the cards in a clean place to prevent dust getting into the card stock) STEP 2 – Cleaning the Card Feed Rollers Using the isopropyl alcohol soaked long cleaning card Open the cleaning card and be sure to work quickly to prevent the card from drying out.
  • Page 3 Prepare for the clean by inserting the cleaning card into the Input feeder of the printer as shown below. The cleaning card should feed in above the orange rubber tongue and below the black feed roller. On your computer, click the Windows Start icon, type “Printers” and go to the “Devices and Printers”. Right click on the “DTC Card Printer”...

Holding the card still allows the rollers to wipe themselves clean freeing any built-up dust, dirt and debris.

    The printhead is extremely fragile and can very easily be damaged. Unicard will not be responsible or held liable for damaged print heads. To use the pre-soaked cleaning swab, open the sealed foil packet and like last time be sure to work quickly to prevent the card from drying out.
  • Page 6 STEP 7 – Cleaning the Card Path Using the Adhesive cleaning card Take the adhesive cleaning card and peel off the protective layers front and back. NOTE: If your printer is fitted with a Magnetic encoder – do not remove the smaller lower strip. Insert the card into the printer Input Feeder section once again (same as alcohol card) and ensure the printers front cover is closed.
